KVCD: Plus template file size accuracy?
 

well I can't say this is for all of them but using the KVCDx2-CQ-704x576-(PAL)-2CD template I selected 41mins for part one and it said in the wizard the file size would be over 700mb but when it encoded it came out at over 400mb same for the second part of the movie which was 44mins.

Well man, I have bad news for you. My feeling is that TMPGEnc wizard can never give you a correct size for your final encoded movie.
I assume TMPGEnc calculate final size according to some kind of average, and I never use it myself.

I see 3 main reasons why TmpgEnc cannot give you a correct size :

- KVCD template is variable bitrate. They is no way Tmpgenc can predict if your movie will be encoded with an average birate of 1000 or 600 or 300.
- KVCD is using optimised GOP; means that a 15min movie of a close up of some guy just talking will be waaay smaller than a 15min movie of say Jacki Chan karate fight...
- "Quality" of your DVD source can influence compressibility too : lots of noise (old crappy DVD), 16/9 Letterboxed vs full screen 4/3 (compressing black bars doesn't take much space), Subtitles or not (better compression without subtitles), filters that DVD Editor have applied on master (a smooth image is more compressed than a sharp one).

You have to watch your movie and guess(!)
If anybody has found a way to predict size without scanning the whole source movie (this takes some time), I am interested.
