can't Seperate AC3 Audio from AVI?

Hi there...

I usually don't deal with AVIs, that's why this is giving me a hard time. I tried to seperate the AC3-Audio from a Hi-Quality Promo-DivX, but it won't let me. I used VirtualDub-AC3-Mod, and also tried VDub-MPEG2-AC3-Mod... Switched to Full Processing mode, but the error is:

ACM failed to suggest Audio Decompression Formate.

Using Direct Stream Copy it does work, but I often read that this might lead to a final MPEG file which is not in Sync... Any ideas?
BtW: Yes I have an AC3-Codec installed, got it off Codec-Download.com...

Upper right in VdubMod there should be something like "Streaminformation" ... within this you can choose demux streams.... therefore choose your AC3 and demux it to disk... and use the usual known ways to convert your AC3 to mp2

Im here now sitting using a MAC so I can't give you the right names of the "Options" in Vdubmod ... but you'll find out... I'm sure

hi,

if anything else doesn't work
you can try these steps :

Open TMPGEnc and load the .avi in audio source
Check the ES(Audio only) radio button on the right panel
Press Setting and change to desired Sampling frequency, Channel Mode and Bitrate
Optionaly, you can press Audio Edit button and
Change the volume of the produced audio file

At last the format will be .mp2

I have movie with audio in ac3 i was convert video to kvcd and I have problem with audio i convert ac3 to mp2 with tmpge with setting I was wrot higher and I burn it on cd and on my dvd I have vidoe but there is no sound

so mayby this settings that I use to convert in tmpge to mp2 are wrong ??

Yes you are. For making ac3->mp2 you have to use heada3che or besweet.

I don't think there's a AC3 codec available. What there is directshow filters.
You have to use directstreamcopy in virtualdub to extract audio, then use AC3Fix to fix any possible errors and remove WAV reader, then use it in HeadAC3he as usual.
