OGM files into kvcd?

im trying to convert an OGM. file into mpeg, i cant even play the file for starters, how do i go about running the file in tmpg??

If you can't even read it, then you miss the Vorbis codec !

Go take them here : http://www.codec-downlad.com

After this you will have to extract the audio part with virtualdubmod (as you probably already do for others avi). And the video part will be done with an avisynth script using "avisource("xxx.avi",false") as first line.

All the problem here is to know if you can do "normal" avi or not ? Because ogm are just avi with special features (in particular, they have ogg audio).

As any codec the ogg one goes intot windows/system directory and for sure it let you play it in media player.

TMPGENC is an other problem as it is not a player. It can handle avi but not ogg that is why you have to use avisynth for that. Or let tmpgenc use the ogg with directshow but it is not recommanded.

iv never used avisynth, is it quite straight forward to extract the avi file from the ogg?? i have to wait until it gets installed on my computer by my system administrator ( brother), what is the command line to extract the avi/ogg sound from the ogg file??
thanks again for all ur help

sorry i didnt mean command line i meant the SCRIPT, whats the script in avisynth to extract the ogg avi and sound files, iv tried running the file in virtual dub to extract the sound but keep getting error

back to the codec again, iv got the ogg vorbis audio codec, something tells me that this will just run the sound and not the video, is this true?? will this codec play the video file with the sound or do i need another one

Dialhot 01-20-2004 11:11 AM

As I said, the ogm are particular avi with special AUDIO ! The video is the same as other avi and can be whatever codec (Divx or Xvid are only two of them). So you also need to have the corresponding video codec installed on you PC.

For avisynth the script is very simple :

Code:

Avisource("name.avi",false)

sorry for the hassle mate, iv not installed the codec yet, but everytime i try playing the file it just doesnt open, iv got the video codecs like divx xvid installed, shouldnt i at least get the video and not the sound, or do install the ogg codec and get both???

The ogg codec comes with a splitter that separates audio and video streams and send them to the correct codecs (ogg vorbis for audio and divx for video). Without this splitter, you can't read the file; So it's normal.
