New on CQMatic, I'm using the 1.2.06 version with Calcumatic

Source file is DIVX directly as input in tmpgenc. I saved the project as TMPGENc TXT project and everything was ok with the prediction (full encode included) , final size was 819 Mo so ok but NO SOUND !!

Running the project directly with tmpgenc give sound, so what was wrong ?

same pb with the optimal script of dialhot !

Nothing. CQMatic do no encode sound but only video.

In fact I sure that CQMatic failed because the presence of something on the "audio source" line in the tmpgenc project is known for making CQMatic to crash (that is why you have 819 MB with no sound).

If you want to encode sound and video with tmgenc (VERY bad idea), you have to first do the prediction with CQMatic WITHOUT the audio, but not let it encode (click once on "full process" button). When CQMatic has finised, you open tmpgenc, set the project on Audio+Video, set the CQ given by CQMatic and start the encoding.

Thx Dialhot,

So if I try prediction without sound in TMPGENC project, do I have to substract sthing for the sound between CQmatic and CalcuMatic ?

CalcuMatic gives you the video size and the audio size, and gives you the calculated average bitrate to use.
Use the "Average Bitrate" field value (after pressing the "calculate" button), and feed it to CQMatic, together with the footage play time. Then CQMatic will know what the target size needs to be.

Could you help some of us by explaining why it is a VERY bad idea to encode sound and video with TMPGEnc? That is how I did all my KVCD encodes using Kwag's templates, before trying CQMatic. What is the better alternative? Thanks

Aielman

Hi Aielman,
I'm no pro but all I can tell you is that tmpgenc is the best video encoder for MPEG1 or MPEG2 on low bitrates.
Since you are using the best video encoder why not use some of the best audio encoders out there.
You can try to download HeadAC3he or BeSweet.
The reason we use these it's because some of us noticed tmpgenc didn't produce the audio quality we expected.
So if you're going to use one of those nice audio toys you'll have to mux the video and the audio in the end.
So use bbmpeg or mplex.
You'll find the links here http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic....asc&highlight=
