TMPGEnc: Solution to Problem "Unsupported or can't Open"

This method works for me, it worths a try. Uninstall any existing version of AviSynth first, then install AviSynth--2.08 (Yes! I say 2.08 ) to see if you can load .avs in Tmpeg. If it is OK, then uninstall AviSynth--2.08 and install AviSynth--2.52 or higher. Everything should work fine by then.

I guess Tmpeg needs something in version 2.08 which 2.52 does not have it, and I guess when we uninstall 2.08, something is left behind in the computer which is essential for frameserving. Have fun!

Thank you. I've been killing myself tyring to resolve this issue. I had 2.0.8 installed before, but never opened a script in TMPEnc.

This works for AviSynth 2.5.3 as well.

I should have used some utility to see what the heck changed in the system between the installs. Maybe someone else can do this.

Your problem is surely tied to the "vfapi plugin" that is needed to use any frameserving tool.

All version of avs install it (not only 2.08 one) but other tools also (virtualdub for instance but alseo codec pack as ACE). And it's probable that when you remove one of these tools, the plugin is removed also.

Reinstalling avisynth is always the first thing to do when you have a problem. That can be done without uninstalling before, and this way you do not loose any plugin you can have in the plugin directory.
