DVD Rip errors?
I am trying to make a backup of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and I keep getting a read error on the 3rd vob file, i used smartripper, cladDVD, DVD decrypter, DVDPro, Vstrip and DVDstripper, and I get the same errors on the 3rd vob and all operations hang there....any help on this or what settings in what program to overcome this issue....thanx, sorry if i posted in the wrong forum, but there is no ripping section...
thanx bombero |
Hi bombero,
You can try using DVD Shrink, and back it up without any compression. This would be the same as using any other ripper. -kwag |
i have not tried that one yet, but i will do it now, i just need to get it to the hard drive then i use SKVCDx3 to back it up.....
will DVD shrink find and grab the movie itself? or do I need to check all the vob's on the disk? |

This will be identical to what DVDDecrypter does. Then create your .d2v project file. The good thing about DVD Shrink is that you can preview the movie, and if you really want to, you can just backup the movie part, without the extras, etc. Again, like using DVDDecrypter, but visually. -kwag |
ok, i used DVD shrink I also read the guids to do just the movie with no compression, but just like the othe 50n programs used it stopped at the 3rd VOB....this movie plays fine on the PC with WINDVD and fine in my standalone Apex.....I am about to give up and walk away...any other ideas??????

KWAG, update.....
i adjusted some settings in DVD decrypter, and selected 1 file at a time, (there are 6 VOB's) #3, the problem all the while has ripped fine...so far there are no other hang ups.. now that I have all 6 VOB's to the hard drive how do i get a wav file from them, like when i do it normal "IFO Mode"..? thanx again bombero |

DON'T extract to WAV. DEMUX the AC3, and encode the audio with HeadAC3he. -kwag |
thanx for the help on this one, everything is fine now.....

Note for future needs : your DVD can have what they called "DVD Mastering error" (a trick to screw up the rippers :-)) and there is a special option in DVDDecrypter (detect mastering error) to avoid that.
I don't know if that works because I never have to use it. |
yeah, that is one of the things i checked to make it work....it takes a bit longer than normal to rip but worth it with a dvd like this one...i just finished encoding @ 544x480 and it came out great...thanx again guys....
