Hey guys. I usually encode my AVI-->KDVDs with a min/max bitrate of 300/2500. Seems to work perfectly fine for most avi's since, according to Gspot, the movie's I'm encoding have a bitrate ~800 kb/s. However I have one movie that is split into two files, so it has a higher bitrate ~1800 kb/s. Should I increase my max bitrate accordingly, and if so how high? BTW I encode with CCE.

The bitrate never depends on the one of the source as the encoder receive from avisynth an uncompressed picture to encode and do have a clue of how much it was compressed before !

The output bitrate depends only on what you have in your movie. If you have a big frame (704*480) with action movie, 2500 if not enought WHATEVER THE SOURCE !

2500 is okay for 352*480 or 352*240 resolution. 4500 is needed for 704*576.

Oh wow! I have been using a max 2500 for all my kdvds with a 704x480 resolution. However most of these sources had an actual resolution lower than that. In most cases max 2500 looked good enough but I'll try your suggestion next time.
