AC3 audio with Tmpgenc?

I seem to get this problem regularly with my system.

I'm not that new to kvcd, and i used to have no issues with ac3 audio but when i use tmpgenc to extract the audio from a divx/xvid file it wont work.

I have the ac3 filter codec on my system and hearing movies with ac3 audio is not a problem however extracting it to any other format than ac3 is a no no.

AVI Codec tells me my movie is XVID MPEG-4 & AC3 DVM for audio.
It also tells me both formats are supported, in the ac3 case i have 2 codecs that supports this type.

AC3Filter
Nero Digital Audio Decoder

However when i go into tmpgenc>>>select audio source>>select my avi file>>>click settings and change them to 44100...112..etc and try to start the process i get no error however tmpgenc simply stops respnding.

I can use tmpgenc for other movie without ac3 audio and there is no problem at all.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks in advance.

Use Virtualdub mod to extract AC3 from avi and then use headach3e to convert it to mp2

Thanks for that, i actually knew that but i forgot so you jogged my memory, i also rememberd having to change the name from .wav to .ac3 when extracting with virtualdub.

everything works fine now thanks again

With virtualdub mod you just demux(as ac3 file) and load into headach3e

i don't think you need to change the extension anymore

www.doom9.org (think first about this when you are looking for something related to video conversion).
