What Happened to 120 minutes of Video with KVCD?

I just want to thank you for hookin it up with these templates. I have been using them with no problem...until now :cry:

I had DVD rips of all the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and all of them except the last part which is "Wes Craven:New Nightmare" were'nt over 93 minutes long. I had copied each movie to 1 cd-r with atleast 200mb to spare for each one. They all came out great, and i couldn't really expect much more ya know.
I do have a lil problem now though with "The New Nightmare." I used your NTSC 320x240 Plus Template(only thing i change is the frame-rate to 29.976), just like i did with every other part, but this time the movie came out to being a lil over 700mb. The movie itself is only 104minutes long, so i figured i should have no problem, because a video cd can fit upto 800mb.
Anyways, i do my normal thing that you should do with Nero(non-compliant) and stuff, and when i went to burn...Nero came up with a warning and asked if i wanted to cancel or overburn. I chose to overburn and everything went smoothly and it said cd burned successfully!
I then went to play it in my home dvd player and the video was getting jerky every couple of minutes and all these colorful blocks(kinda looked like glitches) in my movie???

For the life of me, i can't understand why it did this? I know that my burner supports 90/99min overburning because when i bought it a couple of weeks ago, i e-mailed the company and they wrote me back letting me know that i can overburn with Nero.......

So does anyone have any clue what happened here? I would appreciate it.....Thanx in advance :)

The template ratings, for total playing time, are pretty accurate ONLY for NTSC 23.976 and wide screen encodes. For PAL templates, it's a llittle less. So if you're encoding at 29.97, you have a file size around 20% larger than if you had encoded at 23.976.

Thats cool and i understand that the more i "boost up" your template, the longer the length of the final project. What i dont understand is, this movie is only 104min. and about 720mb(if i remember correctly) and i see people saying that you can fit 800mb of VCD on an 80min. cd-r...But when i tried burning this movie with Nero, it caused the movie to get messed up when i overburned. It's just not making any sense to me, i mean, going by what people are saying. With the yellow and red markers on Nero, this movie only went a tiny bit over the 700mb limit. :?

P.S. I have the latest Nero: 5.5.9.0

Apparently, Nero is padding the data. Have you tried burning with VCDEasy?

What do you mean by "padding the data"? If they are doing this, is there a way to get around it?

lol...It must be a bad thing, because i obviously can't take full advantage of fitting 800mb of VCD on my 80min.cd-r :x

Make sure you have nero set to burn in mode 2 not mode 1. It's an option under one of the tabs before you burn the movie. I know I have forgotten to check that and you can't get as much info on a single disk. I have nero and I can get 800mb on a single 80min 700mb cd. Don't know if this will help any or not but thought I would suggest it. :roll:

I was also wondering why would anyone put a movie where theres action/running etc. sequences in 23.967fps(i think)?? I tried using that for A Nightmare On Elm Street part2 and it came out jerky and stuff. This was only during the beginning with bus moving also. I could just imagine an action sequence. :roll:

For instance, im encoding a dvd rip of The Lion King and i left the default on for that same template. The only thing i changed, like i usually do, is the fps to 29.967(i think)
Now, this movie should have no trouble fitting on 1- 80min cd-r, because it's only like 86min. long. :?:

about the template ratings.. what if the movie i'm encoding isn't wide screen?? instead its a full screen... (itz actually a tv series i'm trying to encode).. do u know what the rating on those are?? (for the 180 min and 120 min templates)

Assume you're encoding at 23.976 and IVTC'ing, and your source is "Full Screen", multiply the template's rating times .75. So a 120 minute template becomes ~90 minutes. Give or take a few minutes.
