Hey I've got a prob. I got TRON in DivX and when I watch it it looks great but when I try to convert it in TMPEG I get black video. I did all the audio steps with Virtual Dub and everything.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

thanx,

Sounds like you may have a frame serving problem. Try loading the fil directly into Tmpg and see if the film shows in the little preview window, if it does then don't use vdub to frame serve just load the film into FitCd to generate an avs file and use that instead.

I know this sounds like a neoob question but it's not. I've just never used it. How do I load an avs script file in TMPEG? I looked all over for it andf I couldn't find it.

-Thanx

Dead easy m8. just load the avs as you would a normal avi in the video source section, and it will load the avs, if you look carfully in the drop down menu you will note that the avs extention is there as well as mpegs and avi file extentions. Then just load in you audio source in the audio section if it's not a seperate wav then load your avi file here, it'll use the interleaved audio to encode to an mp2 then all you have to do is select a destination for your final file and press start and sit back and wait.

Seeing as it is a DivX you are encoding, when you generate the avs script in fitcd, look hard at the script, you will see something along the lines of this

LoadPlugin("C:\Videos\MPEG2DEC.dll")
AviSource("D:\Vampire Hunter D (DIVX).avi")
BicubicResize(352,256,0,0.6,0,0,720,480)
#TemporalSmoother(2,2)
AddBorders(0,16,0,16)
#Trim(0,137739).FadeOut(150)
#ResampleAudio(44100) # CCE 2.5 'crashfix' for Athlons
#== If you want this 'fix' permanently, edit the INI-file:
#== Under [AVSscript] set the CCEcrashfix-option to
#== CCEcrashfix=1

Where it says #TemporalSmoother(2,2) remove the # sign from the line
this will smoth over some of the blocks you will inevitably get when trans coding a DivX to an mpeg. Hope this helps m8.

Which version of tmpeg are you using? I'm using 2.57 plus, and when I click on the browse button nex to the video source avs/vdr extensions are both available.
If you have an earlier version of tmpeg that coluld be the problem it that ver. may not support it.

The only other thing I can think of that would give you probs like this is a bad frame or frames in the avi. The best way to check this out is to bang it in to Vdub and move the position bar along through the film and watch the frame numbers beneath it. If there's a bad frame it will tell you so. If there is one the only way around it that I know of is to cut out the offending frames and edit it that way.

I know that this may sound like I'm having a dig at you but you have got Avisynth installed along with the relevant dll files. I'm only asking because I want to get all the possibilites out the way.

I have 2.57 sharware. So that might be the prob. I haven't tried the Virtual Dub thing yet but I will. You're not having to dig at me.

Thanx for the help.

It still dosen't work. I've tried another film and same thing happened. I went into VirtualDub and it couldn't display the video either. I even re-installed TMPEG. I'll try one of the movies in DivX That I've done before and get back to you. If you think of anything else let me know.

right if it won't play in virtual dub it make me think that you may have a missing mpeg4 or divx codec. You could try downloading the nimo codec pack. It's got almost all of the codecs you'll ever need. You can get it from here.

give it a go and let me know how you get on.

Yeah, I tried one of my other movies that I've encoded w/ TMPEG and it didn't work so I relized that it was the codec and I uninstalled it, re-installed it, and now it works great! Thanks for the help.
