Here's something I found on the net.
For anyone who would like to calculate aspect ratios manually ( the hard core way ), this is the manual procedure.
This is basically what MovieStacker does for us, automagically

hay kvcd,

This is interesting. I can't believe I missed this

Question though.. does this only apply to SVCDs, or others, for instance, if
I was creating dvd compliant source like, 720 x 480 ??

Perhaps you hadn't tried this, or it only applies if you are downsizing, but
wheather it works or not for any other resolutions is besides the point
Its all interesting to me, and in addition, gives me another alternative ta
mess around with in the things or Aspect Ratios oh my !!
