Bitrates: 352x288 CQ file too large
 

hi i have used tok and cqmatic but every time they find a cq to use
my file size is like 200 megs under. hell i had one move that i converted
from dvd to avi then to kvcd and it came out at 90 megs at a cq of 90 and a bitrate of 1800
and a frame size of 352x288 the movie length was a 1 hour and 20 minute movie. On average its under by 200 megs. My questions is why the small
sizes and would increasing the frame size work better. i'm have been using dailhot avi script for conversion cause mostly the files i use are avi's

It's an known issue that for doing avi, CQMAtic is less accurate. But your problem here is not that.

You are using a res that is way too low ! 1h20 can be achieved in 544*576 ! And with Maximum to 2200, not 1800 :!:

For these two reason, CQMatic encode always at 90 (that is the maximum CQ it uses because above that, the quality is the same, only the file size is different) : you obtained a file that can't be better (in quality) and do not need more space for that !

The ideal CQ is between 70 and 85. Use 544*576 for that movie and raise the max to 2200. Your CQ will be in this range and the result much closer than what you want.

On a better note should i be using
resolution all the time and bitrate
or is it dependant on the movie?

That's a nonsense ! I do not give ANY resolution in my scripts so I don't know what you means with that.
My scripts are provided with "WITDTH" and "HEIGHT" as dimensions.

Res is dependant on the movie length; I give the values a lot of time and you should find them in some post. I'm too lazy to repeat that for the 10th time.

If cqmatic is mainly dvd2k(s)vcd. what program
would be good for avi's. tok or manual

Forget TOk. Basically CQMatic is a "manual prediction" done automatically so I use to use it. But you can try DIKO done by Vmesquita; But let's go in avi->kvcd to discuss about that.
