KVCD: Some Suggestions For a 90-minute Movie?
 

Ok, i have a dvd rip of 13 Ghosts and it's a 90 minute movie. I have already encoded the movie once before with 320x240 plus kvcd template with all the settings set at default, except the frames, i set to 29.967

For the most part it came out pretty good. The thing i want to really fix is the macro blocks during darks scenes. I already have the *direct show* plug-in set to high priority and i've tried messing with the "soften block" options but i found that when you toy with this, it makes things worse.

I would like some suggestions about this and also how to take advantage of the extra space on the cd. I have 700mb cd-r's and after i encoded this movie, it was only 680mb. :roll:

I dont know if any of you have seen this movie, but there are some fast scenes with running and the ghosts moving around fast. I would just like some suggestions on how to get better quality and fill up the rest of the cd?? :D

can't help with the blocks as I'm getting the same problem with the pal version of The Animal but as for the extra disc space you could process it through vcdeasy and create chapters, or use nero and create a menu.

Why shoot for a file size of only 700 mbs? Why not shoot for 800 mbs? A 700mb cdr could contain 800mbs and with overburn I could put about 825 mbs in the said cdr.

When I have around 800 mbs file size, I multiplex it with TmpGenc so as not to be padded too much when I burn it with CDEasy. Others suggest to demux first with TmpGenc and then mux it with BBmpeg but I found the first method to work also so I'm sticking to it since it involves fewer steps.

When you say you have a DVD rip, dou you mean you have ripped th vobs to your hdd or you have a Divx rip of the film, because if you have a DivX then that is the reason for the blocks, I know about this from encoding a bunch of Anime episodes that were DivX. I used the temporal smoother in Avisynth and that seemed to get rid of a lot of them but by no means did they all disappear.

The blocks are always going to be there I think. I have yet to see a movie WITHOUT ANY BLOCKS. :( Especially at dark scenes. It just isn't gong to happen I don't think.

Which templates are you using? I use the 352x480 and 704x480 PLUS templates and the blocks are gone- even during the dark scenes.
