Blotchy Encoding with KVCDx2

I'm encoding ice age from a clean divx source, at the start when the thing is trying to burry its acorn theres a lotta white and sky, every few sec it will go blotchy, its hard to describe, can this be overcome without increasing the filesize?

Hey, I'm working on the same movie...likely from the same divx source. I'm using the kvcd 352x480 template but set for 352x240 for my dvd player (and I don't think an animated film really needs the higher res).

Anyway, I encoded it win cq set to 96 and it came out at 672megs. I'm doing in once more at cq 99 just to compare...I don't think it will make much difference.

What were you using to view the mpeg? I noticed that when I used Power DVD I got weird little blotchy retangles on the white scenes, but when I used my ATI file player it looked fine.

I will burn this tonight and check it out on my DVD player/TV and see if the lines are still there.

For comparison I also did this film as a 2 CD CVD (352x480 - mpeg2 with standard TMPGenc settings at a CBR of 2400 or so). I'm very curious to see how the KVCD compares.

on the computer it looked blotchy, but on the tv it was fine, see the 120min format for the settings i ended up using.
