Used the optimal ma script with a lot of help from Dialhot.

Used Tok and encoded it. CQ was 57. 352x240.

Plays well on the standalone dvdplayer.

Max/Min Bitrate set to 300/900.

Why didn't you set you min to 64 insteed of 300 as I told you ? You would had a CQ raised by 3 or 4 point at least !

Send a message via ICQ to incredible
CQ 57! at 352x240! wow, ..... that would end in very noticable "gibbs" around edges as it will be scaled 4x! times on the TVset.

Got things sorted now , second kvcd i did was 178 mins , Min/Max Bitrate 64/1200 . Cq 62.13.

I had made some mistakes on the first one . This is much much better.
Made it in mpeg2 , the problem i was having of video draggin was cos of 3:2 pulldown, now encoding it in 29.97 and min bitrate at 64 , plays perfectly on my dvd player.

Though Cqmatic still does not work for me , i am much happier doing the prediction manually , getting better results and squeezing the best i can into one cd.

Thanks Dialhot.

Would have never ever got here without your help.

Everywhere a manual method exits, it's better to use it if you understand how it works. Automatic tools like CQMatic or others (Tok, ACP and now DIKO) are great but they don't let you control, and more important, UNDERSTAND, the job you are doing.

So, Congratulation if you do it by hand !

Have been working away how i can raise the cq , the last film i did was 180 mins once more but this time Cq value is 79.87 Resolution 352x240.

Have not changed the script much , overscan=2.
Min/Max Bitrate 0/700

Plays well on the dvd player.

Hi kev,

Try to keep your MAX bitrate at least at 900Kbps.
Below that, you'll start to see blocks on high action scenes.
All ULBR stuff I tried was done with MIN=64Kbps, MAX=900Kbps.

one question...

how should I select the (TMPGenc) template that I should use for my movie.

Like how do I decide between LBR/ULBR/CQ/X3 templates.

Does it depend on the movie length?

Hi kwag
The movies i encode are with lots of dance sequences, tested samples with max bitrate 900 and lower CQ.
Anyway next time round i shall test again with Min/Max 0/900.
