Bitrates: GUides on using calculator programs?

Hi HOw do you use CQmatic and CalcMatic together? After hitting calculate on Calcumatic I get a pic which gives me the information I required. If I have dual audio on the file do I change the audio streams in Calcumatic to 2? I have no idea what I am doing......HELP!!

hello m8,

i will try and help you if i can...........

my advice would be to walk before you can run (no offence)

firstly...... you cannot have dual audio on KVCD.....do you know this?
you can if you mux as SVCD but we are getting into more complex issues here.

and KVCD templates only encode video?
you should encode audio first really so you know final size and you can subtract it from your space on the cd..For 1 cd rips something like this): 800mb(cd size)-100mb(audio) - 15MB(muxing overheads) =685MB (for video)

so first of all......
SETTING UP TMPG
1. open TMPGenc.
2.choose the template you want. *NEXT*
3.load your video file (avi or mpeg) into TMPG audio will be loaded but not used. *NEXT*
4.click on other settings........choose your quality setting. *OK* *NEXT*
5.make sure your resolution is correct. *NEXT*
6.untick "start encoding immediatley" *OK*
7. now press.......*FILE*/ *SAVE PROJECT* choose location to save project file........YOU MUST SAVE AS A TMPGEnc Text Project file
8. Close TMPGEnc.

USING CALCUMATIC AND CQMATIC

1. open Calqumatic
2.Click on "SOURCE" button and load the video file that you loaded into TMPG (it will scan it) and tell you...... Running time ect.
3. choose the bitrate you encoded audio at (or what you intend to code audio at)
4. choose number of discs you want to produce
5. click on calculate
6. the important figure there is the "Average Bitrate" number......copy and paste this into CQMATIC in the average bitrate box.
7. fill in the "movie time in minutes" box with the readout in CALCumatic (i always round up the seconds)
8.click on "open project" in cqmatic and show it where the TMPGEnc Text project file you created earlier is.....and click on EXECUTE! and away we go.........

settings in CQmatic:
you need to show cqmatic where TMPGEnc.exe is located just once.
click PredictionX1 to toggle between predictionX1 and predictionX3 (X3 is 3x more acurrate but takes 3x longer)
click full encode to toggle between Full encode (which does prediction then full encode) and prediction only (which does what it says on the tin)

hope this is informative enough m8 ( i am no expert)

i have used this proggy to successfully produce: 2 VCDS to 1 KVCD.......... 2 svcds to 1 KVCD/KSVCD .....avi/xvid/divx to KVCD.

if you have any questions m8 just fire away i will do my best

cheers
KYUSS

SETTING UP TMPG
1. open TMPGenc.
2.choose the template you want. *NEXT*<- HOw do I do that?
3.load your video file (avi or mpeg) into TMPG audio will be loaded but not used. *NEXT*<-I've tried but I keep getting Mpg is not a valid file message from TMPGENC

4.click on other settings........choose your quality setting. *OK* *NEXT*
5.make sure your resolution is correct. *NEXT*
6.untick "start encoding immediatley" *OK* <-THis is just the start button right? I clicked on the start but it doesn't recognise the mpg file I loaded. Dunno why.
7. now press.......*FILE*/ *SAVE PROJECT* choose location to save project file........YOU MUST SAVE AS A TMPGEnc Text Project file
8. Close TMPGEnc.

HOw do I load this template or save it? I'm trying to do a 3 mpg in 1. THe l1st is only 20 mbs, the rest is 450 - 550 mbs each.

a=directshowsource("part1.mpg").killaudio()
b=directshowsource("part2.mpg").killaudio()
c=directshowsource("part3.mpg").killaudio()
a++b++c
BlindPP(cpu=4)
Blockbuster(method="noise",detail_min=1,detail_max =3,variance=0.1,seed=1)
Convolution3D(1, 6, 12, 6, 8, 2.8, 0)
GripCrop(WIDTH, HEIGHT, overscan=1, source_anamorphic=false)
GripSize(resizer="LanczosResize")
Undot()
TemporalSoften(2,7,7,3,2)
DCTFilter(1,1,1,1,1,1,0.5,0)
#Blockbuster(method="noise",detail_min=1,detail_ma x=10,variance=0.3,seed=5623)
GripBorders()

Where exactly do I add this line?

copy /b audio1.mp2 + audio2.mp2 audioSum.mp2

Please help!!

first of all m8

that is not a template..........that is an avs script.

if you have the KVCD templates in the correct folder when the wizard starts up you will be able to choose a template.

are you loading an mpeg or that avs script?

for the method i have used ir requires you encode each mpeg seperately, this can be done as a batch operation tho.

or if you name them sequentially there is an option in TMPG to include all files with the same name as 1 film and encode together....but for this your audio would need to be joined as 1 file too which could create more problems.

get back to me with the answers m8 and i will try to help more.

i will be back in a miute also with a guide i will pinch from another forum and post in the acp section that will allow you to do 2 vcds to 1 kvcd or 2 svcds to 1 kvcd.

cheers

I'm trying to load a mpeg1 into the tmpgenc by clicking on "browse" next to the video source on the bottom of the screen. This is correct ain't it? THats when I get error messages

how do you use cq matic for 2 files?

Dialhot 05-14-2004 01:02 PM

In Calcumatic you have an entry where you simply indicate "2" to tell that you want to compute everything for 2 video insteed of one.

Of course you will have to run CQMatic manually for each video separately.

If I load the avi file and audio is loaded and not used, will the end result still have sound?

Does it mean I only load the avi file into tmpgenc video part and leave the audio part blank?

It(s better to do like this because CQMatic fails if the audio source is not blank.

And of course, you won't have audio in the end but it's ON PURPOSE ! Audio must be done separately with AUDIO encoders (tmpgenc is a VIDEO encoder).

WOWIEGURL 06-06-2004 02:03 AM

which is a audio encoder? headache? what do I use to join the video to the audio? I used tmgenc last time and it plays fine in the computer but
no sound in the tv. I already have an mp2 file

Tmpgenc do that fine so you did an error somewhere.
(this error can be that your audio is in 48Khz and you standalone can't play mp2 other than 44.1Khz).

WOWIEGURL 06-06-2004 02:19 AM

so how do I join the mp2 with the mpg?

but I checked in the compatibilty list and my player was listed therre

The compatibility list report players compatible with 44.1 Khz audio :!:
(the only audio that is in the standard)

For joining : tmpgenc -> menu file -> mpeg tools -> simple multiplex.

Load the video source, the audio source and AFTER THAT set the mode to either "VCD non compliant" (if the video is mpeg1) or "SuperVideo CD" (if the video is mpeg2). Put the name of the target and run.

Mux it with TMPEG, or with BBMpeg (or Mplex), using these settings:

http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/i.../2002/12/5.jpg

Those are the KVCD settings. If you are doing KSVCD, use the SVCD settings.

I just found out my sample rate is 32000hz. THats probably why it isn't joinig. What should I do to make it 44.1 hz?? the only other post on this is in another language.

Dialhot 06-06-2004 03:38 AM

How did you do your mp2 ? Any encoder that can do mp2 can also fix the samplerate. The problem is to know which tool you used in order to give you more hints.

WOWIEGURL 06-06-2004 03:42 AM

I used headache - convert to mp2 bitrate of 128 min cbr. I try clicking on convert to 44.10hz then start, automatically unchecks it for me.

Dialhot 06-06-2004 04:06 AM

Because headac3che can't handle 32Khz probably. You will have to learn how to use Besweet then. Or use an otehr tool you know (try to do something by your own at least once :-))
