Hi guys,
I got this one for you:
Well, I`ve managed to create several good (acceptable) quality kvcds so far and they were all from xvid-divx files (hollywood blockbuster movies)! I guess...i guess that I haven`t stumbled over this before `cause all the other sources were 23,976 fps! I simply loaded the avs optimal script along with the KVCDx3 template and encoded my movies! Simple as that, they all played smoothly on my standalone as well as on my pc!
So, last weekend I encoded this particular movie the same way i did the others and the result was a jerky, stuttering playback on my standalone and the same thing happened on my pc! The audio managed to be still in sync!
The only thing different from the others is the frame rate, 29,97fps!
So i figured out that i haven`t encoded the movie the way it should have been to handle frame rate conversion properly.

So which one is the best way to frame rate convert 29,97fps to 23,976 and to make the movies play as smooth as possible?

1- Avisynth -->ChangeFPS, AssumeFPS or ConvertFPS?
2- TMPGenc -->Inverse telecine?
3- TMPGenc -->3:2 pulldown?
4- TMPGenc -->Do not frame rate conversion?

My goal is to create kvcd mpg-1 files!

Thanx

Starting from a non interlaced Xvid ? YOU CAN' T do that properly.
If the source is interlaced : http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8678

Hi Dialhot,
well, seems that, according to TMPGenc, my source is non interlaced!

So I guess there´s no solution for my stuttering playback?!

Thanx anyway!

You guys could tell me what would happen if i encoded my movie with the same source frame rate (29,97fps)?
It seems to me that it would be the only possible way to avoid stuttering on my non-interlaced source?!!

I`ve also read somewhere that is possible to apply 3:2 PULLDOWN WHEN PLAYBACK to a mpg-1 file. How?

I just don`t wanna give up on that!

Thanx

It's weird that it took so long to you to ask this as my first answer suggested that encoding at the original frame rate was the ONLY solution you have ! And you won't have any shuttering by doing so. I thought you had understandd that yet

Gee, sorry Dialhot,
I just thought you`ve made an assertion by stating that and that there was NOTHING I could do with a non-interlaced source?!

Fool myself!

So it`s possible but then I`ll have to drop my cq a few numbers, right?

And about the audio/video sync?

Thanx
