How do I convert a WMA video file to KVCD? VirtualDub freezes when I try to demultiplex the avs script which serves the WMV file (DirectShowSource).

Can anyone help me...?

all i can say is good luck because i don't think too many people have had very much sucess yet.

What i did which worked OK was use a lossless codec and converted to avi which made it alot easier

Did you put the # of frames in the directshowsource line like this

Code:
DirectShowSource("video.asf", fps=15).

I didnt give the fps when I tried. But, the same thing happens even if I add fps=15.

Now, I'm trying to convert the WMV file to AVI (DivX) using VirtualDUB and then convert it to KVCD. I guess this will work. But its a two step process.

You need to put in the framerate of your video not 15 (just an example)

Are you useing a losless codec like huffy so you don't lose quality

You can do it with tmpge but just a warning it needs alot of space to convert

Actually.. the Frame Rate of my video is 15. I got this info from Virtual Dub File Information.

And, what is this Lossless codec? Can you direct me to some url where I can find more info?. I have a lot of empty space on my harddisk (I have a massive 200GB HD). Also, I have TMPGenc. So, that wouldnt be a problem.

Thanks for your help

<EDIT> Also, I need to say something. I couldnt even convert the WMV file to AVI using VirtualDub. I think Avisynth doesnt do a good frame serving job with WMV files.

Hi here is the link

http://www.codec-download.com/module...ownload&cid=22

i think the best one is the 2.2.1 version

Tmpge just open the video file -then hit file then ouptut to file then avi then go to settings and pick the huffy codec

<EDIT> I tried to open the WMV file directly in TMPGenc and output it to AVI using the lossless codec. And it froze at 29% (also, there was enough empty space left in the partition. around 10 more gigs). Now I'm trying with avs file. I hope it works!

Still wont work. btw.. the avs file I'm using contains only a single line saying

DirectShowSource("movie.wmv",fps=15)

15 is the FPS of the movie (I got it from VirtualDubMod by opening the AVS file)

check out my previous message. Somehow... when I tried to quote my own message, it edited the same message instead of quoting it and adding a new message to the topic.

hmmm... dont know about that!

I tried the same with some other WMV and the same thing happened. But the Percentage Completed at which TMPGenc Freezes is different with different WMV files.

For example.. with one wmv, it fails at 39% completed (every time you run.. it freezes at the same spot). With the other wmv that I tried, it froze at 29% completed. I dont know what the problem is. Once reason could be that both the files are damaged at 29% and 39%.

I cudnt think of anything else
