Creating a KDVD with Simpsons Episodes
I was wondering what is the best way to put Simpsons episodes onto a KDVD. I have tried multiple guides, but do not have much success with them. So...I just want to start completely from scratch. My sources are about 150mb XviD files. 512x384 resolution.
Thank you. |
Already asked, already none answered.
I guess that the only really good answer for that is "use a DVD source". BTW perhaps you don't know that for cartoons you have to use a shorter GOP than usual to obtain a good quality ? Try with a GOP length of 15 or even 12. The script should be the same as a regular movie. |
Simpsons, Vojager, TNG etc. many many times do come as fieldblended!
(NTSC sucks more and more  ) The cartoons for example never have been shot on Video 29.97 but are converted to NTSC 29.97 AND 23.97 use. You can deinterlace these using NO interpolation (Blend=true) but this will result in heavy ugly blendings when playback on pc & ALSO tv! Vojager, TNG etc, for example do have hybrid content! Awful for encoding purposes as you have to separate the Video from the film contend and thats not just done by static Decimate() settings or even the usage of SmartDecimate()! So I do assume that your simpson episodes come as 29.97 interlaced  So you can "try" do to a InverseTelecine by Telecide().decimate() but I think there still will be some belndings as most of the moviecontent is made originally in 15fps! which will change in fast moving scenes to 23.976 and thats where for example smart decimate will fail as it could recognise the wanted doubled fields as a pulldown result which also "have to be tretated", ... but in real it doesnt have to 8O So my recommendation if youre not that in manual field processing via Selectevery() .... do encode that as NTSC interlaced 29.97 (if your Divx gots 29.97) Kdvd but be aware that interlaced encodings do need much more avg bitrate! Did you modified the defaultf ? Because when you select this option in CCE I remember that there is a "settings" button that is ungreyed. What was the impact on the encoding speed ? |

I left it encoding and went out so I don't know how it affects speed... |

This doesn't make sense what you say cause if CCE does IVTC then a 23.976 would come out and IF interlaced parts will be kept interlaced, then these parts will still be 29.97, so these both fps wont be in the same stream .... 8O |
