KVCD from CD-I rip has picture borders?

Hi,
I have today ripped an MPEGAV file from an old CDi two disc set I own so I could reburn it onto a CD to play in my standalone. I achieved this successfully by using ReefGear conversion facility and burning as a non compliant VCD. it plays back fine in my DVD player but has two thick black borders down each side of the picture. Is there any way I can remove this with some Mpeg or other software. The original file ripped was a .Dat file and had to be converted in ReefGear to Burn it. What software would I use if I was able to do this and how would I go about it. I wouls If possible like to strech out the film across the whole screen.
Any help would be appreciated.
Steve.

You can do whatever you want but you will have to reencode the movie, and so loose (a lot?) in quality.
