I've been encoding KVCD and the results in regards to image quality have been good to great. Yesterday I discovered that my player can play a SKVCD (480x576 Pal so I assume I can play a SKVCD NTSC since I can play VCD NTSC). My question(s) then is:

1. Which would give me a better image quality SKVCD or VCD.

2. Which would give me a getter image, SKVCD with a lower CQ than a VCD with a higher CQ.

3. Can I generally fit the same movie on a CD-R with about the same CQ using a KSVCD vs. a VCD?

You will always get a sharper image if you're using a higher resolution. In this case a resolution of 480x576 (SVCD-PAL) vs. 352x288 (VCD - PAL). The bigger the frame is the less your DVD need to upscale it to fit the screen .

What if I encode from the same source a kVCD with a CQ of 90 and a SKVCD with a CQ of 78. Would the SKVCD still look better?

Much better.
Best KVCD in the same res. than a SKVCD.
