Is KVCD LOSING Quality With The Latest TMPGEnc encoder?

I recently came across this article at digital-digest.com entitled "A simple comparison between TMPGEnc version 'B12a' e '2.53'":
http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/ar...genc_test.html

Has anyone ever checked between versions of TMPGEnc to find out if, after all our processing, newer versions of TMPGEnc might actually be losing the hard-earned quality?

Why do you think we're doing so many tests with MEncoder/ffmpeg ;)

I have seen this looong time ago. Firstly TMPGEnc improove very much from 2.53, second the comparison speak about MPEG2 and KVCD are MPEG1. So don't worry about the quality...

Not all KVCDs are mpeg1...
If you own a Mustek/Winbond DVD Player or clone and you use an interlaced resolution(XXX*480), you have to use the mpeg2-templates to get it playable.

I have Mustek clone - the beast eats everything!
