FFMPEG: built-in libavcodec/libavformat CODECS

Well, not yet
But I started to play with some ideas today  ;)

http://www.digitalfaq.com/archives/i...2004/04/23.jpg

Highlights: With built-in libavcodec/libavformat CODECS (Not a front end GUI!)

But
don't hold your breath :!:

I'm not (holding my breath) but I'd like to make one thing clear.
What do you mean by "Not a front end GUI!" ?
You mean that's a new frankencoder project?
Based on libavcodec?
Why didn't you thought about that before :D
Cheers

vmesquita 04-13-2004 06:03 PM

Hey Karl, that's a great! :D I am curious! 8)

Because the libraries would be compiled/linked in, so the program will actualy be making API calls, directly controlling the process.
QuEnc does something similar.
Not sending command line arguments to mencoder.exe :)

Probably better :D

Yep :!:

I did, but things were not stable at the time, and ffmpeg and CODECs were crap at the time

At least the interface works, but that's just a toy right now :hihi:

I know you said not to, but I may have to hold my breath for such a wonderful toy!

dongxu 04-13-2004 10:14 PM

I wish I could do something but I am not a programmer. Such a tool would be fantastic!

All the best from me.

black prince 04-13-2004 11:47 PM

@Kwag,

I believe the time has come :) With a stable encoder, as MEncoder,
and with Notch-Matrix, avs MA script, and KVCD Templates, this
would be interesting. If the encoder you use has better file size
prediction than Tmpgenc, I say YIPEEEEE!! :D It's about time
the best of KVCD's achievements were put into one fabulous
program 8)

Well, the best of KVCD (the "Notch" matrix plus some other things) are already being applied in commercial applications, specially low bitrate video streaming and surveillance, but I'm not allowed to disclose any information (yet!) :) ( For all the KVCD detractors out there on the "other" site, who said that KVCD was nothing more than a XVCD, I'll have news for them :) )
We already proved that on extremely low bitrate applications ( ~80Kbps) KVCD MPEG-1 is just as good as MPEG-4, without the CPU requirements of MPEG-4, and not to mention that MPEG-1 decoders are just about everywhere! Not so for MPEG-4 ;)
And we also know what we can do with KVCD stuff applied to MPEG-2 (KDVD), but on that end, there's still not much commercial activity. It's just a matter of a little more time ;)

Looks promising. I haven't had the time lately to follow the mencoder threads so this would be a time saving tool for me. Please let me/us know if i/we can help somehow.

digitall.doc 04-14-2004 05:06 AM

kwag,
it would be great :!:
If you really begin to cook this... we could open a thread with suggestions or ideas to incorporate in this program... (even you can finish with some thillions of ideas  )
Well, not today if you want, but tomorrow I'll begin to hold the breath

Hydeus 04-14-2004 03:50 PM

FINALY :!:
I didn't think that you ever will do THIS but it seams that time is bigest tresure of all

I'll check this after I feed the dog and right before I feed the cat  Joking :P Great tool (I gues  )

audioslave 04-14-2004 05:56 PM

WOW 8O :D !
This sounds great kwag! And congratulations on the surveillance thing! So, when do we get to see this beast of a program? I'm starting to turn   . From lack of oxygen!

Hello Kwag:

It sounds that this is what I was waiting for.........I can not afford to hold my breath for long periods of time, but with some CPR resusitation techniques, particularly with god looking female nurses, I may be able to wait............. as a matter of fact, using this resusitation method, I can wait for a looonng time. :D

Best regards to you
