@All,
Here's a nice installer and GUI for MEncoder. The link is:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.ph...light=DRPEncXP
I tried it for DVD to VCD 352X240 using avs MA and without the Notch-
Matrix. The quality is fantastic!!!! and the speed was half the time
(2.5hrs vs 5hrs) of Tmpgenc. There are lots of options, so someone
like Kwag could tell us how to tweak this proggie. It even has a file
size predictor and system shut down when finished. It basically generates
a batch file for excuting and the author is very flexible to making changes.
CQ prediction is very stable compared to Tmpgenc and that makes this
encoder a good canidate for a replacement.

But also have a look at the mencoder thread where its mentioned "how" will affect the parameters the encoding finally. And as in here we didn't came to a very final optimal setting keep an eye on the thread where you cann add the conclusions to your GUI.

What I can tell you is that ALL DRP[fill in the rest here] has not been programmed by the person who claims that did it

Anyone who claims that has never programmed, and does this kind of work in TWO DAYS, means some nuts and bolts are not screwed on tightly
quoting "This app is my first program. It tooks two days for coding. First of all: Before this I can't delphi!!! This is the first app I ever have coded, at all!"
http://rj-elektronik.de/avideo/DRPEnc.php
LMAO
I've been programming for 15+ years, and I can testify that NOBODY can learn programming in 2 days and do this kind of work. Not to mention Windows programming, which is another beast

Alot of posts at Doom9 were duped also
I tried using MEncoder strictly in batch from the Guides at this website
and the result was pretty bad I'm going to review the posts here, but
this will take forever to gleen what I need to get a decent result as
with Tmpgenc.

I'm with you Black Prince,i want to try this but can't figure it out.I can't wait to get this to a GUI or something
I can't figure out what i need to change in the settings for KVcd and not Kdvd,i switched the mpeg1 and min and max bitrates but beyond that i have no idea (trying to read up but most people seem to be using it for KDVD right now.

I wrote a basic and straight foward GUI with the optimized settings for each conversion as templates. It's very simple and effective. But I still need to work two simple problems.

Ok,
Looking at the mc.ini file right now.
You need to change:
mpeg2video <> mpeg1video
vrc_buf_size=1835 (DVD vbv buffer) <> KVCD=327 <> SKVCD=917
In the mc_pal.bat you need to change:
keyint=15 (GOP size for DVD PAL) <> keyint=24 (for KVCD/SKVCD PAL)
That's it basically.
All other options are format independent.
Hope I helped.
Cheers

Glad to hear vmesquita,this project seems to be taking off so in the next little while i imagine you guys will have some nice programs for us to play with
Thanx rds_correia ,i am going to try those settings right now also min and max bitrate is straight forward but for average bitrate do you just use what CQMatic says
I am curious this is probably so stupid but i need to ask,In tmpge we use cq to get the proper file size but with MEncoder where is the "cq"(don't know what to call it foe MEncoder) or whatever adjusts the file size
Thanx

@rds_correa
The way I implemented is like that:
You have already tuned settings file, named according to their purpose. For instance:
1) DVD to KVCD - comes with the right VBV buffer setting, the GOP 24, the "optimal-script like" filters and mpeg1video
2) DVD to KSVCD - comes with the right VBV buffer setting, the GOP 24, the "optimal-script like" filters and mpeg2video
3) AVI to KVCD - - comes with the right VBV buffer setting, the GOP 24, the "AVI recommended" filters and mpeg1video
4) DVD to KDVD - - comes with the right VBV buffer setting, the GOP 18, no filters and mpeg2video
and so on...
You just pick the bitrate, cropped width/height, destination width/height, set 2pass (or don't) and you're all set. This ready and working already.
And kwag gave me the idea of importing cropped width/height, destination width/height from moviestacker, making the process even easier. Besides that, there's the framerate I still don't know exactly how to deal with to make this very easy to newbies.
@bigggt
The best way to have accurate size in mencoder right now is using vbitrate and 2pass. 1pass with predction is still work in progress.

And I'll add that because MEncoder is so fast, we can really use 2-pass to our benefit, because the target size is very accurate.
So there's no need to do prediction with MEncoder if we use this

Exactly. Using the internal filters, I get up to 30 fps in my AtlhonXP.

I must have a problem becuase i have a celeron 900(i know its slow) but with the optimal sacript loaded into MEncoder i don't get above 1 fps is this normal
I tried yesterday with just the mpe2source line and resize lines and was getting 10 fps
Can someone point me where i can read on the settings because i used the settings that rds_correia suggested and am still having problems my encoded video has pixels all over the place.( i would like to know what all this stuff is-mpeg1video:vrc_buf_size=327 reme=2 recmp=2:ildct =1:ilme=1:vstrict=- and so forth)This is my mc ini file
Code:
of=rawvideo=1
ovc=lavc=1
nosound=1
noskip=1
vf=yuvcsp
lavcopts=vcodec=mpeg1video:vrc_buf_size=327:preme=2:precmp=2:ildct=1:ilme=1:vstrict=-1:autoaspect=1:vqblur=0:vrc_minrate=300:vbitrate=4700:vrc_maxrate=2500:vrc_eq=tex:vqmin=1:mbqmin=1:lmin=
and this is my ntsc.bat
Code:
:: Change only the following set variables according
:: to your needs such as explained in the newbie
:: guide at http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9300
::
::
set in_path=c:\VIDEO\MPLAYER
set in_avi=test.avi
set out_path=c:\VIDEO\MPLAYER
set out_m2v=test.m2v
::
::
mencoder -include MC.ini -vf-pre softpulldown -lavcopts keyint=24 %in_path%\%in_avi% -o %out_path%\%out_m2v%

Hi bigggt,
I'm affraid most of it is already explained in the guide:
Quote:
vcodec= either mpeg1video or mpeg2video (for KVCD or SKVCD/KDVD)
vrc_minrate= the minimum bitrate you whish to have in your final movie
vrc_maxrate= the maximum bitrate you whish to have in your final movie
vbitrate= the average bitrate you whish to have in your final movie
vrc_buf_size= the vbv buffer size (VCD=327, SVCD=917, DVD=1835).
Please note that KDVD uses 1835 and that KVCD depends on wether it will be muxed
later as VCD or SVCD)
keyint= the GOP size (15 or 18 for PAL/NTSC KDVD or 24 for KVCD)
aspect= 4/3 or 16/9 (this needs to be according the avisynth script too!)
|
Unfortunately I don't really know more details about other option like preme, precmp, ildct, etc.
Maybe bilu or digi.doc can give you more info.
From what I seen in your ntsc.bat you're importing an avi.
Is that a fake avi built from makeAVIS or is it a DivX/XviD source?
If it's a fake avi, please post your avisynth script also so we can have more info.
Also from your mc.ini I see you're using a vbitrate higher than vrc_maxrate vrc_minrate=300:vbitrate=4700:vrc_maxrate=2500 .
vbitrate should always be set with a value higher than vrc_minrate but lower than vrc_maxrate and that works more or less like a CQ figure although specified in Kbit instead of percent
If you drop the vrc_minrate (erase it from mc.ini) you'll notice your encoded stream's average bitrate get's pretty close to the specified vbitrate.
Cheers
