I'm getting strange results with some tests...
I made 3 SVCD samples (4min).

Here are the settings:
1- CQ_VBR 20, VBV 112, MinBit 500, MaxBit 2700
2- CQ_VBR 20, VBV 112, MinBit 500, MaxBit 3000
3- CQ_VBR 20, VBV 112, MinBit 500, MaxBit 3500

As you can see I just change the maxbitrate.

And here the results:
1- 61.298kb
2- 61.226kb
3- 60.701kb

I can't understand that... If I rise the max bitrate the file size decrease!!

The encoder is not using bit rate past a needed point. So it wouldn't matter if you raised the MAX to 10,000
At least for this sample you're doing now.

i had a bit of time on my hand so i decided to experiment a bit. i had a movie which was interlaced at 29.97 fps and it wasnt shot in film so i knew i couldnt ivtc it so i tried to deinterlace in tmpenc using all differnt methods, the results i had were ok not great the method that worked best for me was even-odd field (field). but then i decided to ivtc this movie instead i went to the ivtc option and choose 24fps flicker priortized and set deinterlace to automatic then i encoded the movie at 23.976 the quailty of the movie was much better and there were no combing affects at all.
was this a one off thing or is this actually meant to happen?

should this b happening? should i always use this method??
