KDVD: mixing different resolutions?

But you have to use a multi VTS authoring tool for that. A thing possible with tmpgenc Author but not with DVDLab for instance (but Dvdlab Pro can).

You can also Patch your file with the DVD Patcher and you can use every authoring tool

As a "patch" just lies and makes the auth. appl. accepting it.
BUT as dialhot said diff. Aspectratios/Resolutions/Audioformats need diff. VTS on a DVD!

The "patch" method is just to get SVCD Streams authored to a DVD-R.
But the single VTS incl. different streams (as told above) is much more "risky"!

But maybe you got one of those few players which accept it.

Just to say that I did a multi format KDVD today using non compliant resolutions with DVDlab Pro (NOT the last beta that is COMPLETLY bugged).

What I did :

- a NTSC 23.976fps with 3:2 pulldown in 480*480 in a separate VTS
- 3 PAL 25fps in 480*576 in an other VTS
- a VMG menu above the PAL VTS that imports the NTSC VTS and do links for all movies.

And that works :-)

My standalone can play ntsc videos.
Does it mean that it will send a PAL signal to my TV?
Can I see ntsc videos fine in my PAL tv?

Explained in a quick "cut" version: If the PAL DVDplayer gets a NTSC source he will convert these digital 240/480 height PIXEL based inputs to 625 analogue PAL LINES (NTSC would be=525) -Signal, and beside that he perfoms an internal pulldown so 50 FIELDS (PAL) per second (out of the 23.976 or 29.97 NTSC FRAMES per second) will be provided to your PAL TV set.

And thats why Phil is right that its not a good idea in case of PAL and of more CQ gain to encode PAL 25fps streams in NTSC sizes, even if the Player accepts i.E. 480x480 NTSC resolutions on even 25fps PAL inputs.
Cause more little artefacts gained from more CQ will be scaled to a bigger state finally on PAL.

I'm not getting this multi VTS thingy at all.
I've coded a korean movie and two mp2 audio files of korean and german language. I believe that this multi VTS is the way to go.
Please help :bowdown:

With the single vts version of dvd-lab I manage to put different sizes on one dvd. But it's either PAL or NTSC, obviously.

My player plays the dvd. I had to take the player back and they gave me a completely new one, because it started to get 'stuck' during playback of dvd's!

I always use dvd-lab that accept several resolution and when I make
the kdvd it worked on any my dvd player (I have 3 player).

Only in the case you have to make a kdvd with a different aspect ratio (es. 16:9 and 4:3) you need a multi VTS.

However I make a kdvd in dvd-lab with a different aspect ratio (2 film was 16:9 and 1 film was 4:3); the resulting is been that in two player I see all the film but in don't hear the sound in that 16:9 :( , while in the 3th player i see and hear all. :D

p.s.
The stream audio of film 16:9 was ac3, while that 4:3 was mp2.

This is the reason why you didn't hear the sound on 2 of your standalone. And that is the normal situation in fact, the third one wzs the one that does not work correctly :-)

In fact the explanation is in the VTS_0.ifo. Open it in IFOedit and you will see that in a singel VTS DVD containing more than one movie, the ifo is like this :
- parameters of the PGCs : on line only only with A/R, resolution, sound format and subtitles description.
- for each PGC (each movie) a line containing the chapters and colors for subtiltles.

There is no possiblity then to have diff A/R or sound for each movie.

But the A/R and sound info are also intovob headers and that is what is read by some players even if it is not what the standard describes. Your third player was in this situation.
