@WOWIEGURL,

Now after combining with filemerger it runs at 1:25:14 at 860 mbs.
Since your combined file is 860mb, could you de-multiplex this file,
which splits audio and video into separate files. The use Headac3he
to convert the audio file to a lower audio bitrate, like 112kbps in
dual channel. You only need to reduce the audio by 72mb to have
it fit one 80minCRD. Why don't you PM me and I'll work with you.

I tried TMPGENC with 1 file and it said Illegal format.

mpg and the file wouldn't all of a sudden stop 1/2 wat through the movie to load the second hald. DVD2avi doesn't like it

ABOND- I've pmed you

I'll advise you again, there are 99min. CD-Rs with ~980mb capacity in Mode-2. No re-encoding, no hassle...

Fluffbutt 05-09-2004 10:17 AM

Wowie - I got a store here local that sells 50 99 min cdrs for $36.00.

(Mandurah WA)

So look around - not at the hardly normals and myers, look for tiny back street computer shops, they're the ones that will have them.

bigggt 05-09-2004 02:19 PM

A little off topic but does anyone know if anyone has them in Canada, looked at best buy ,future shop, and a few local computer stores but no luck

Thanx

Jellygoose 05-10-2004 08:19 AM

@WOWIEGURL: have you looked @ ebay already? I can't believe there are no 99min CD-Rs down under... 8)

WOWIEGURL 05-14-2004 10:34 AM

I would still like to learn how to encode my files to fit on 1 cd.besides its very risky buying stuff on the internet especially off ebay.

Fluffbutt 05-14-2004 01:18 PM

So Wowie, what size movie are you trying to do to 1 cdr?

So far, the best I've done is 110 mins into 755 mb inc 12bkbit sound.

I'd guess I could get 115 mins max with same sound (not sure I'd want to go lower with the sound...)

I used mencoder, direct from ripped vob's (audio was direct from vobs too, straight to mp2).

@WOWIEGURL

Ok here's what I did. Its crude, but effective (as long as you are generally content with the quality of your file before you start:-

I recently acquired a VCD (mpeg-1) file which was 970mb. Too big to fit on one CD obviously. I demuxed it with TMPGEnc. This gave me the m1v and mp2 components.

I then used the program 'ToK' (which you can download from this forum) and fed it with the most basic AVS script you can get - "DirectShowSource("C:\yourfile.m1v"). If you don't know how to create an AVS - just copy n paste whats in bold here into a NOTEPAD file, put the correct path in and save it with the extention AVS.

Goto the audio page of ToK and use the section for external audio - point to the mp2 file you have. So this means that ToK will predict the best CQ for you.

Once you have that CQ, encode and save new file (making sure you have the SVCD and MPEG2 boxes checked on ToK's first page).

Once you have that newly encoded file, use TMPGEnc to mux it with the audio mp2 file (use MPEG2 from the dropdown).

After all that, you should be left with a MPG which is KSVCD and a perfect fit for a 80Min CDR.

As I say, this is how I do it. Good luck.

WOWIEGURL 05-14-2004 09:15 PM

mine is 2 mpeg1's - 108.52 mins - dual sound. want to cram onto 1 kvcd 794 mbs. can't burn it directly with nero even though it is 794mbs

I'll try that, how do you do it in tok if you have 2 mp2 files that are dual - cantonese/manderin?

Fluffbutt 05-15-2004 01:58 AM

This may seem silly, but if you only need to lose a few mb's, are there any leadin and credits at start and end you could trim off. I often delete the end credits - some take 5 mins!! (I usually us dvd shrink to remove some start and end rubbish, then convert the remade vob files).

WOWIEGURL 05-15-2004 02:05 AM

I don't think it would make much of a difference as the file is 794 mbs.

dunno what's going on there with your ToK Log. :?

Have you used ToK before? I don't really want to explain the ins and outs of it here, cos its the wrong forum. But essentially, you should be getting prediction sizes close to the 'desired' file size. You are only getting values like '411,000' bytes, when you need way over ten times that.

As I say, take this to the ToK forum if you need more help with it. But what I suggested as my method works for me (I don't know about more than one language track but I know that it can be done).

That's wierd though - I've burnt 795Mb files perfectly with VcdEasy.

Maybe you could recode the audio at a smaller bitrate? (I used to use 192, but then found that 128 sounds just as good out of my 5.1 speakers, and takes way less room).

how do I do that and join it back onto the mpg?when I put it into vcdeasy it says the whole file is 805mbs. How do I shrink it?
