ffvfw help needed with the notch matrix

Hi Guys, I was wondering if you more experienced guys wouldnt mind helping out a newb to understand a bit more about how to implement the Notch Matrix into ffvfw.

I downloaded FFDShow from marcellus post here>http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=70411#70411 I think its a build by athos.

I then downloaded the KVCD "Notch" matrix from Kwag's guide here>http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8924

I installed FFDShow and found that it is a slightly different version than the one shown on Kwag's post. Im at a loss to where I put the downloaded "Notch" matrix and also on the version I have downloaded when I clicked on the 'Custom Tables' section everything is ghotes and the Load & Save Matrix cannot be selected.

Please could some one tell me which version of FFDShow I should have downloaded and where do I install the "Notch" Matrix to.

Please try to be patient with me and I appreciate any help that you guys can provide me.

Thanks in advance. :)

You should change to Mencoder (mencoderMe GUI).

a) FASTER!! :!: by usingb the same libavcodec!

b) We focussed our work on mencoder as we now know how (almost) to set it right. ;-)

c) It accepts direct vobs

d) .... batch processing via commandline (incl. audio handling via Besweet commandlines/Parameters = whole job on one batch = sexy!)

need more arguments ? :)

Hi Zyphon,
Forget Incredible post  .
He's got the same problem I do: we both fell in love with mencoder
Actually he's right about it but I'll cut you some slack and give you some hints on FFdshow/FFvfw :D
-Open "VFW Configuration" from Start>Programs>ffdshow.
-In the encoder tab you'll find a scroll box where you can find and choose "MPEG 2 | libavcodec".
-In the FOURCC scroll box find and choose "MPG2".
-On the left pan of the screen you'll find a configuration elements tree.
-Click on Quantization; a new screen appears; "Quantization type" scroll box; choose "MPEG - Custom tables"
-Move on to Custom tables at the configuration elements tree; a new screen appears
-There is now a "Load Matrix" enabled button.
-Browse for the notch matrix file after pressing it.
From this point onwards you have the Notch loaded. You can now move on with Kwags and others recomendations for FFVFW.
Or you can follow Inc.'s and my advise: try Mencoder or Mencode-Me.
You'll love it
Cheers buddy

Thanks for the replies guys much appreciated.

@rds_correia

Hi buddy, so you are saying there is no real need for me to use ffvfw any more just use MencoderME?

If this is the case this is great news I can use Mencoder independantly from tffvfw then I didnt know that.

Thanks for you help though it worked perfectly and I loaded the matrix fine.

I just wanted to experiment with this program but I think it would be better to stick to Mencoder.

Again thanks guys. :)
