KVCD PLus template? best possible quality on one CD-R?

Hi Kwag,

I have used the KVCD plus template in order to bring my AVI files coming from a Camcorder (PAL) with best possible quality on one CD-R. The tape covers always 60 min video. I tried your KVCD plus template with 704 x576 resolution, it worked on my DVD player and looked great but the file size is more than 50 higher than just using a standard VCD template, so around 900 MB. So in total around 35 min will fit to the CD_R. Have I made sth wrong? Is the problem the high resolution of the DV material?

THanks

Werner

Hi Werner,
The playing time average on each template is based on a Wide Screen material. Your Camcorder's output is Full Screen. So your play time will be considerably shortened.

Hi Kwag,

thanks for the information. Which template do you recommend me to use 352 x 576?
Thanks

Werner

Yes. The 352x576 PLUS should give you around 60 minutes of full screen video on a CD. Give that one a try, and let me know!

Hi Kwag,

yesterday I tried the 352 x 576 KVCD template and it worked very well. I could get my 1 H DV material on roughly 680 MB and the resolution is much better than normal VCD quality. The only thing I have to complain is, when I have used a digital effect called Stroboscope, the video seems to become blurred. It only happens with that special effect. Everything else is great.
Can I try to change any parameters?

Do I must use FitCD for this?

In this case (converting a camcorder, fullscreen, native PAL or NTSC framerate source to KVCD) it is recommended to use FITCD to calculate crop & resizing, or it is intended for Film conversion specifically? sorry if my question is so basic..

Regards :)

Hi Sergeiv,
I would use FitCD to get the proper resizing/cropping/overscan/etc. options and aspect too.
I don't have a DigiCam, but I understand that FitCD does open DV files.
