Another QuEnc 0.51 Error

I still can't figure out that "Gop too large" warning in Tmpenc Author but I noticed another error in QuEnc that some might be interested in. Somehow the codec encodes some random frame from the movie as the first frame, it has happened in 2 out of the 3 movies I have encoded. In one movie it's encoded a whole random frame as the first frame in the movie followed by the actual first frame, and in the other movie, its encoded 3/4 of a frame as the first frame in the movie, I can see now why the first Gops in the movie are always shorter than the following consecutive Gops...in the first one its a 15 Gop, and in the other movie with the 3/4 of a frame, the Gop is 4 as stated by Bitrate Viewer. Has anyone else noticed these weird bugs? Maybe this encoder is not ready for primetime yet.

darkeye,
I used QuEnc 0.51 to encode a short mpeg2 video without the KVCD matrix and with GOP size set to 18. When I opened this in TMPGEnc DVD Author I did not get any errors. I also checked the first frame using TMPGEnc and it looked OK. I do not think your problem is due to QuEnc. Also, I believe the GOP size entered is the max allowed GOP and therefore it would be normal to have GOP smaller than 18. How are you determining the GOP size in the encoded video?

Another QuEnc 0.51 Error

I used the kvcd notch matrix so your results and my results would be different. The problem is in the way that QuEnc handles the kvcd matrix.. do me a favour and try it with the kvcd matrix and post your results please. Thank you.
