How do I get my file size lower? I have read the threads but Im new to kvcd and all of this is flying over my head. I am using tmpgenc to encode. Could someone please walk me through this before I pull my hair out? I have used cqmatic, but there doesn't seem to be a good tutorial to help you. It keeps giving me a cq value of 89.77 which is alot higher than the default 70. Hell Im not even sure I have the bitrate average in their correctly. It seems like a great program, If I knew how to use it. SOmeone please give me a good tutorial using tmpgenc, then burning with vcd easy. Thanks

Adam

Hi Adam,

If you are encoding from DVD, you might want to take a look at this: http://www.kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10300
We're slowly moving away from TMPEG, and we're starting to use mencoder.
There's no need for complicated tools to calculate the correct CQ, because the file size accuracy is maintained pretty well by this encoder.
The quality is far superior to TMPEG too
So you might want to take a look
Also, there are some guides at the main portal, www.kvcd.net
Look on the right side, under articles.
Please note that most of these guides are releated to TMPEG in one way or another, so they will not apply to some of the things we're currently doing.
But try to follow the mencoder threads, because that's the future
