352x288 or 352x576?
If I have a divx 352x288 It is better to encode it in 352x288 or in 352x576?
1. If I encode in 352x288 it will be the television set to make the zoom in order to arrive to 576, while if I encode in 352x576 the zoom it comes made directly from the encoder? 2. If I encode in 352x288 I need a lower Q regarding the 352x576 for having the same quality video? thankx |
352x288 is DVD compilant and therefore should be left at THAT size.
a double upscaling of the height makes no sense as the upscaling also will be done by your Player/Tv setup to 768x576 TV square pixels! BUT you'll need more Bits! when u choose a higher resolution out of a smaller one for encoding and these bits will be needed for just an interpolated- and therefore not more detailed image |

352x288 is DVD compliant ? Are you sure ? I am not saying it isn't, but I never knew anything other then 576 for PAL could be fully compliant.

352x240(288) is DVD compliant, both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2.
