Well, I'm not using MencodeME but PackShot (they both use MEncoder). And right now I'm doing an encode of "The Return of the King" at an AMAZING 30 fps on my AMD 2000+ (Thank you incredible .)

PS It's a DVD encoding if anyone's interested...

150 users = 150 diff Hardware configuration = no way to compare anything.

End of the thread. Let children at doom9 play their games if they want, we have real work to do there.

My 2 cents.

My 2 cents.
true!
simple ilustrations about performance tests:
from time to time someone wants to do tests like that.
no matter if we have 2 equals pcs but if one have differents progs installed and without defrag, we will got differents performances...!

my word as technician: nothing is equal in performance, depend what is installed and how you use your pc.
2 pcs with same hardware but with differents systems have differents performances.
glent2k3,
i'm not against your idea but this tests are useless!

I think all he really needs is a little advice over which cpu to go for - ath64 or p4.

So how about a GENERAL opinion (rather than specific number speeds) of the two with mencoder (or general video work). I know p4 is better with photoshop (by quite a margin) - is it the same with mencoding?
