Hi all,

-I am looking to create small videos (10min) in non standard SVCD format in maximum quality possible and distribute them on CDs which will be watched on 4:3 TV.

Does it still make sense to use this modified GOP structure and Quantization matrix or could I just use the standard settings in TMPGEnc, because the encoded size does not matter to me?

Which will produce better quality when size does not matter?

-My input source is DV avi in 720x576.

(TMPGEnc) When using the source aspect ratio 4:3 625 line (PAL) and output video size 720x576 and aspect ratio 4:3, I get a result of 768x576.

This is actually bigger than the input size, which is not wanted, right?

Should I rather use 528x576 as video size?

Thanks alot,
Al.

KVCD always give better result for a same file size than SVCD. No matter how big (or small) this size is.

No you don't. wmp tells you that, but it lies

The res. of your outputted video is always what is indicated in the bottom left line of the main screen opf tmpeng. If it shows "720*576" then you can trust it.

All depend how much movie time you want to put on your disk. At 720*576 in full screen you won't go above 1 hour.

I am actually using Irfanview with plugins, but I guess those use wmp resources.

As i am restricted by a bitrate of about 3000 (dvd player restriction for XSVCD) would a lower resolution not look better than the full 720x576?
