AVI to SVCD: Image is stretched horizontaly, not fullscreen
I have problem converting an AVI file to SVCD...
When I run the SVCD on my standalone DVD player, the image is stretched horizontaly (people appears to be fat).... The image is fullscreen horizontally but not vertically (image has a rectangle shape). My AVI file is an anime episode so it must be possible to get it perfectly in fullscreen. In TMPGEnc, I simply use the "Project Wizard" to make a MPG with NTSC 480x480 format and I get the result described above. The Project Wizard put automatically the following settings: - Source aspect ratio: "1:1 (VGA) " --> Should I set it to "4:3 525 line (NTSC" or another? - Video Arrange method: "Full screen" --> Should I set it to "Full screen (keep aspect ratio" or "Full screen (keep aspect ratio 2)" ? I checked the thread "Idiot's Guide for Converting Avi to KVCD". I wonder why I would need VirtualDub(???). TMPGEnc and then Nero Express do the job (except for my problem :? ) What's the difference between SVCD and KVCD??? I'm sure the solution is just a little change in the settings: But I searched a lot in this web site and it didn't help me: I'm now more confused... And I don't what to waste more time (and CD-R when I make tests) to search when surely many of you know's what I do wrong... Thank you for your help. :) |

I can't understand....
I tried the following settings: 1) As you told me: source aspect ratio= 1:1 VGA video arrange method: Full screen (keep aspect ratio) 2) source aspect ratio= 4:3 Display video arrange method= Full screen (keep aspect ratio) Clip frame= on Not only it didn't fix the "full screen" problem, but I got EXACTLY the SAME result with both 1) and 2)... As if it was the same file... As if I put the same setting for the 2 files... :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: Is it possible to "Nero Express" to be the problem? |
snorkyller,
You have not said what your source video aspect ratio is or what kind of TV you are viewing on. If your source video has 4:3 aspect ratio (such as 720x480 DV camera output) and your TV has 4:3 aspect ratio, then use TNPGEnc set with Video arrange method = Full screen on Advanced tab and also make sure Aspect ratio on Video tab = 4:3 Display. Then what ever frame size you use (480x480 for example) the video will be displayed full screen. |
