Winds are now about 25 to 30 MPH, and the storm is now about to enter the south east of the island.
They say that in San Juan, we'll be getting between 50 to 60 MPH winds, but the bad thing is that the storm is now traveling only at 7 MPH, and that means we will be getting very heavy rains for about 12 hours.

Time to get a canoe :lol:

Hi Guys,

Everything fine here now, and the worse of the winds is over.
However, we're supposed to get heavy rains from some of the outer bands later tonight, with some 30MPH winds.
We have no power, but I had my iBook fully charged, so I'm connected via 56K modem (sucks!) :lol:
Anyway, we had some 60+ MPH wind gusts, but for a short period of time.
Other areas in Puerto Rico, mostly south and west, really got worse conditions.
Where I live, they say power will be restored tomorrow.

Im glad the worst of the storm is behind you and I hope that's the last you hear of it.

After seeing those terrible hurricane's in the Caribbean isnlands over the weekend it is really scary to have to live with the fear with one of those on your door step.

It must have been touch and go and one point.

Mind you though the heavy rains could still be a problem to over here in the U.K we have suffered heavy rain fall and certain parts of the country had flooding where whole villages were completely flooded with homes collapsing and cars sliding down the road in a massive rush of water.

I hope you don't have to go through all that as it can have devastating after effects.

I've been watching it on the TV news and some places 70+ lives were taken by that monster not to mention buildings, cars and other goods that were distroied...
There's just nothing we can do to contradict mother nature :(

Power is back up :)
But what a mess :!:
When power came back up, I noticed my FreeBSD firewall didn't start.
Well, what do you know, dead power supply :x
I expected something like this would happen, because our machines are up 24/7, so after 2 to 3 years of "power-on", and two plus days of shut-off, this is a killer for most hardware.
Well, I put in a new power supply, and the server is up.
Then, I turn on my workstation UPS, for my Pentium 4 running XP, and BOOM :!: Big spark from behind the power supply 8O
I said, "This can't be happening :!:"
Well, I decided to check my wife's machine, a Compaq Presario 5000 ( Pentium III @1Ghz) and the machine is also dead :!:
So I said, well, another power supply nightmare.
So I changed the power supply, AND NOTHING :!:
After further tests, her motherboard is dead :twisted:
So there you have it. Luckily, the PowerPC running OS X is fine, so I'm using this one in the mean time.
Our WIFI network is up throughout the house, so we can also use our notebooks.
Other than that, everything is fine, except we're watching a new storm that just formed :!:
And guess what the name is :mrgreen:

But I'm glad it's gone for now.

I'm also glad your safe. Ivan is moving through east cost states (i.e.
washington, delaware, pennsylvania,etc) in US and dumping more rain
and causing flooding in western parts of these areas.

Curious, what do you use to test motherboards. I have 2 PC's
that won't respond and ruled out the power supply, but don't
know how to test for bad board :roll:

I use a volt meter to check power supply voltages, and a logic probe to test circuitry. ( CPU reset line, etc. )
