all this BBQ talk has made me super hungry. all i BBQ is steak, and steak only! i love my steaks and i love them juicy and red. i was just wondering what people use to make marinades. id love to try some new ones out for this upcoming summer/camping season.

here is my recipe:

1/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
dash of worcestershire sauce
dash of garlice powder
ketchup
bbq sauce
italian salad dressing

marinate your sucker in that then shake some montreal steak spice on each side. BBQ that bastard for 6 min/side, then serve with boiled>BBQd mini potatos, and peaches and cream corn on the cob. oh ya... and the BEER!!!

hey,

your marinade recipe looks really tasty- I have to admit that I'm kinda lazy when it comes to cooking so I usually settle for a bottle of 30 min marinade (lemon & herb). I'd like to try your recipe but how much of the other ingredients should I add?? If you could post the quantities of ketchup, bbq sauce, and italian dressing I'd really appreciate it!

hey, sorry man.

all the other ingredient portions are just tiny. i never measure them, but if i did, id say:

1/3 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1 tsp of worcestershire sauce
1 tsp of garlice powder
1 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp bbq sauce
1 tbsp italian salad dressing

most of the time, im so itchin to get that sucker cookin, i just pour all my ingredients in by eye and it usually comes out splendid.

**note: id say the italian dressing is the benchmark ingredient. you may or may not like it. it gives it a tangy taste. i usually buy those sweet kirkland thin sirloins at costco. maybe its the whole package that makes or breaks this recipe. give er a try. GL.

Ahh!, no steaks in the frig., I guess I'll settle for a Coors Light.

I like a good BBQ steak like anybody else, specially if is a 18 to 20oz prime rib, but I have to admit that, I love the outback's prime rib,
Yooo! Zooter you got that name? its a great place for steak. What I don't like about doing my own is the cleaning after.
but I'll try your sauce and will give you my own recipe.

As promised I'll tell you about bbq sauce, you can go
2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup mild-flavored (light) molasses
1/3 cup bourbon
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder

or if you are really into it you can go
For the classic barbecue sauce:
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 lemon
1/2 cup/100 g brown sugar
1/4 cup/60 ml vinegar
1/2 cup/125 ml tomato ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon Tabasco sauce, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon chili powder, or to taste

Make the barbecue sauce: heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the onion and garlic until soft and lightly browned, 4-5 minutes. Grate the zest from the lemon and squeeze the juice. Add the lemon zest, half the lemon juice, the sugar, vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce and chili powder to the onion and simmer gently, 5 minutes. Taste, adjust the seasoning and let cool.
But make sure you have somebody else's word in writting that they are going to do the cleaning,
enjoy and let me know how it went if there's anybody brave enough to try it

Hey, for all of you that like to experiment not only with your video capturing, but also in your kitchen, try the only marinade you will ever need.
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt (kosher or sea), or to taste
4 strips of lemon zest
3 cloves garlic, crushed with the side of a cleaver or minced
1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh basil, cilantro, dill, oregano, or a mix of all four
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

Combine the lemon juice, hot pepper flakes, cracked pepper, and salt in a nonreactive (glass, ceramic, or stainless steel) bowl and whisk until the salt crystals are dissolved. Add the lemon zest, garlic, parsley and basil. Stir or whisk in the olive oil. Stir before using. Try this on anything, specially cornish game hens, chicken, duck, meat
anithing, You can use it as both a marinade and a basting sauce.

This is looking good!. Every time I read these posts, I have to run to the kitchen and grab something to eat!.

I'm going to have to start writing down these recipes and try them out!.
