KVCD: Forum Rip Off @dvdrhelp.com

This hasn't got anything to do with kvcd, but i've got to post this somewhere!

Just looked at the forum at dvdrhelp.com

 it's a complete ripoff from this forum!

thought i'd share it with you all!

kwag 12-12-2003 11:04 AM

Hi gamma,

Exactly, what part of their forum :?:
Because vcdhelp/dvdrhelp was created a long time before kvcd ever existed :!:
But their forums and topics are geared towards new users.
Not like kvcd.net, where it was designed for intermediate to advanced users, and more advanced topics.

dvdrhelp.com is a very old, excellent and reputed site. It's first name was vcdhelp.com, than svcdhelp.com and now dvdrhelp.com.

They do not ripp anything ! That's just a forum that is as serious as we are, so it's normal to find there excellent post and threads. Exactly as ours :-)

That's right. And it doesn't even look like our site at all :!:

If someone just yells out "rip offs" he should better get a bit knowledge of history according to such sites before. Anything else is just roughing up :!:
And could cause misunderstandings.

I first ran across Kwag's "maverick" techniques on their forum. Things have really changed since those days, but I still visit their forums occasionally. Admittedly, I only participate on KVCD, but it's good to see what other users are trying.

Anerboda 12-12-2003 04:21 PM

The first place I heard about KVCD was at VCDHelp.com, so it is only because of that site I'm here... :D
Funny isn't it... Long time ago I seached how to convert avi/DVD to VCD, and the first site I found was VCDHelp.com. In the beginning I thought it was to difficult to use the KVCD Templates, but after a while, I wanted to get more out of my encodings, so I ended here... :D

Never regreted it............

I just don't understand why there isn't more people, who want's to get the best out of their encodes.. :?:

Hi VCDhelp.com is what first got me interested in kvcd but in the beginning i must have dowloaded Kwags templates 20 different times.

Like Anerboda said i was searchin on how to convert to vcd and heard about fitting more of a movie onto 1 cd(which a lot of people said was impossible  )

Not until i found the forum here did i understand on how to use them :D

BTW I'm no where near advanced or even intermediate but with all the great people here at the forum i have learned to get the best out of KVCD.

I think a lot of people are afraid to ask the necessary "stupid" questions and ask for the help you have to have to get started. Our forum has a lot of very expert members (obviously not me!) who are always ready to attack any problem, any time and give good usable advice. Phil, Kwag, Incredible, Boulder, Mrtibbs and many others have aided my efforts. And it is appreciated.

Because to them it seems that such encoding techniques do not confirm to their holy rules. That discussion I already had at Gleitz/doom9.de on the subject "OneCD Encodings" ... These people got their opinions from bad encodings they saw only done to share in the www and p2p/donkey networks. 90% of the provided KVCD/MVCD/AVCD/SCVD's there are very bad examples and people don't should make their opinion on the Possibilities of One CD encodings on such bad pirate-network files.
That's why they don't participate ... and "inlightning" them in many cases won't work cause many don't want to get off from the way of their forum-gurus (I don't mean DVDRhelp.com but many other) cause the gurus do react contra-argumentating immediately. :(

On the other hand Anerboda ... if you want the best out of your encodings. Encode using I Frames only at ultra high bitrates ;-) (you know what I mean and I understood you).
Fact is the NOtch does cut frequencies more than a standard matrix BUT people should see this in relation to the compression which is possible by doing this. Everything is just a point of view, and what you will do with your encoded files .... we will watch them on Tv and thats what this matrix gives .. the range of frequencies needed to get a good result for watching on Tv. And I think in our case that's what counts

Nice, so it's time for "thanksgiving" thread:
I also don't want to lose my opportunity to give THANX to everybody in the forums, for being kind, helpful, patient,... (Xmas time, I see). The list would be very long, and I don't want to forget a single name.
So... THANX TO ALL (not shouting, just expressing a great feeling) :D :D :D :D :D

Actually, the two forums look a lot alike. It could be the fact that both are using phpBB :-)

Yes, but they are using a VERY old version :!:
I don't know why they haven't changed to the latest version, because the version they are using has too many vulnerability issues :!:
They are lucky they haven't been hacked. If you look in www.phpbb.org , you'll see all the fixes that were made on all releases, and vcdhelp is running I think version 2.0 or 2.01. And that's old :!:
Anyway, I'm very happy with the way KVCD.Net has developed, in just about a year and a half. After looking at the statistics of vcdhelp ( http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/statistics.php ) and other sites, I have the pleasure to say that we ( KVCD.Net ) has the largest ratio of visitors compared to user base

Code:

Forum Statistics (KVCD.Net forums)
Statistic        Value        Statistic        Value
Number of posts:        53518        Posts per day:        89.09
Number of topics:        7627        Topics per day:        12.70
Number of users:        2775        Users per day:        4.62
Board started:        21 Apr 2002 02:04 am        Avatar directory size:        782.59 KB
Database size:        93.20 MB        Gzip compression:        ON

With only 2775 users (at this time of this post), and ~89 posts per day and an average of 20 users on-line at any given time compared to ~69,400 users and averaging about 100 users on line, the numbers are very clear that KVCD.Net is the most active site  :!:
All I have to say is "THANKS EVERYONE, YOU'VE ALL MADE THIS POSSIBLE"

:ole:

Your The One

kwag

One minor correction to your statement...YOU MADE THIS POSSIBLE....if you had not put in all the time required to get this site up and running we would not be here......so as far as I'm concerned you made it possible....thank you

Bud
