An excellent 52x32x52 Lite-On cdrw drive at a great price after rebates. FYI, Lite-On drives also handle 90-99 minute CDRs.

Cdrlabs gave this burner a rating of 9 out of 10. See here: http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=194

Even if you're happy with your current burner, it might not hurt to have a backup waiting...especially Lite-On's top model at only $20.

Thanks to aviationwiz at cdrlabs for the heads up!

D,
yeah, now it goes on sale, and they increase the rw speed,,
i picked it up a couple of months ago,,,
i have the 48x12x48 and this one, 52x24x52 (or it could be x12x52, cant recall exactly). Anyway, the 48x works like a charm, can handle a batch or at least 7-8 kvcds at one run. The 52x has damaged some of my media. It's put a small line (scratch) on the inner ring of a few cdr's. Varies from media to media. Even scratched my o.g. windows xp cd.
luckily i made an iso image backup to install from.
Not sure still if it can be slowed down to say, 48x, using NeroTool, or not?
I set it once, didnt seem to work, had to reformat anyway.

Anyhow, these are a good brand and a good make or kvcd-toasters...
Kinda like the george foreman of burners.

Whaddya know, I've got the exact same 2 drives as you! Only, I haven't rigged the 52x up yet (gotta have a good backup QB on the bench you know )...I'm still waiting for that sad day when the 48x croaks (knock on wood!). One thing's for sure, I've gotten my $20 worth out of it. That's why I wanted to pass the word about this deal to the folks here.

Sorry to hear that. Luckily, I've never ran across this problem yet with the 48x burner, but then again, I always burn KVCDs at 8x and everything else a few bumps below max speed just to play it safe (besides, what's the difference between 40x and 52x anyways?...maybe a minute or so tops?)...so if speed is the culprit, I needn't worry. Hopefully my 52x drive won't exhibit the same problems as yours later on though! Anyways, good luck with that Ztr.
