I tried the KVCDx3 MPEG-1 matrix sample and that did not play correctly.

I also tried one of the KVCDx3 MPEG-2 CD's that I made for my Koss Portable player that has the output set to 544 x 480. I thought this was going to work after initial success but after watching the film for about 20 minutes, the video started getting garbled and the audio got out of sync.

Has anyone had any real success in getting this player to work KVCDx3?

This could be a media problem. Can you try another media? If you were able to watch for 20 minutes, sounds to me that the compatibility test has passed!

Hi kwag,
That's a good point. I will burn a Fuji Film (Taiyo Yuden) CD-R and give that a try as I'm told they are one of the best media available. I'll see if that fixes the problem.

I just wanted to report that I tried a different movie last night that was burned with a different brand CD-R and it played flawlessly. This was the KVCDx3 MPEG-2 template with the output set to 544 x 480.

Well I've changed my mind about this being a media problem. I burned a different movie the other night encoded with the KVCDx3 template (output at 544 and quality setting on 15) and it would not play properly on the 444 regardless of media.

I ran a few tests and if I removed the audio from the MPEG, then the video would play flawlessly. So I think this is a bitrate type of problem.

I saw in another post on this board that someone recommended changing the min bitrate to 650 for Pioneers. I'm going to give that a try and see what happens next.

I tried changing both the max and min bitrates on the template. Didn't seem to have any real effect. No matter what I tried, the player still screwed up with this particular movie.

The only thing that I have noticed about this movie is that it is 100% FILM and it starts off with a short interlaced section and then for the actual movie switches to progressive.

I don't know if this movie being 100%FILM is significant but I did have FORCED FILM on in DVD2AVI (which is what I normally use). It just seems to me that most of the other movies that I have had success with were NOT 100% FILM, but this could just be a coincidence.

Oh there was one other thing that I forgot to mention. I also tried a short test of the movie with no audio at all in the burned CD. This test section of video played just fine.

Does this provide any clues?
