i see thers many DC lovers here, i like you guys

ive played some divx in my DC using dcmplay but some come up with echo i guess thats why they have to be mono, somewhere i read that it will only play opendivx files (divx4???)
as far as vcd goes, ive tried vcdplayer and dcmplay and they play better in dcmplay.

and btw DC does look better than ps2, if it only had a little more cpu and a dvd it will still be the queen of consoles. (or king maybe)

i play atari, nes, snes, gb , coleco, c64, oddisey and what not in it.
gotta love it inclluding mame and my good old starcastle and moon cresta.
ok im crying now. i want more games for it :P

First note sorry if I create some type of flamewar, even though i own a dreamcast and love it but. Its called an xbox with an xbox you can bascilly do anything on there with linux, and since linux has WINE you can run windows apps on there. I loved my dreamcast but now almost all projects that are on there are dead and or they will never be completed. Yes $20 for a system is good but $100 you will get so much more. This includes video encoders/players like mencoder/mplayer, webservers.....almost any server, and more, and better emulators than any other console.

therefore I've got my Laptop

I really liked the Dreamcast Games and the possibility to run backups on it...
They really were lot's of fun...
Playing DivX was only possible at VCD Resolution... at least it looked way better than VCD at the same bitrate

But concerning Applications, I think the only thing you really can do is emulating SNES or display JPG files (maybe listen to mp3... but I don't think the dreamcast is ment to give you hifi audio quality)

hmm the audio on the DC is great, it even has 3d audio
unlike the ps2,

64 Voice Yamaha Super Intelligent Sound Processor (45MHz, 40Mips, 64 voices, 16-bit 48KHz, 3D audio support

way better than the ps2 sound, dunno about the xbos, dont know what it has.

Xbox has an MCPX southbridge Chip set, in other words Nforce, in other words nothing compares. "The MCPX will enable Xbox to process 64 channels of positional 3D audio." (nvidia.com). Now the Dreamcast has that but doesn't support Dolby digital, and only has a stereo option.

Haven't been here in awhile and surprised to see the my old DC topic refreshed...my DC died on my a little while back though. I miss it. Had a lot of fun with MAME and Crazy Taxi 2. I've now taken a bunch of bits and pieces and put together a second computer for the living room that acts as an entertainment centre. The computer does everything I want (except I don't think you can get Crazy Taxi 2 for PC) but I miss the fun of getting the DC to do things it wasn't meant to...kinda like playing with KVCD =)

Cool! I have Crazy Taxi 1 for PC, but haven't yet found Crazy Taxi 2...I guess I'd better start looking harder. That was the game that won my girlfriend over about the Dream Cast, and when it died and I found a PC version she was first in line to get us a wheel for the PC =)

Anyway, off topic I guess. Sorry.

I hate to raise a dead topic again :P
But You can do a conversion of a video to udcdivx beta 5
with a bitrate of aroudn 800 and resolution no higher than 640x480(should go lower if you are goigng to be messin around with bitrates)I still suggest audio bitrate of 56kb 22500 mp3.Also hey arana you're from #dcemu aint ya .i converted Initial D 3rd stage for UdcDIvx and it looks great also soem oen made a front end for uDcDivx for use with tirual dub to creat a project file that you can just load up.I'll make some test samples. Also i am going to Oc my dc to 240mhz so after that I will try soem kvcd's and see if the "jerk" is elimated.

to merge these topics,
From the head coder of Chankast:
Quote:
Hi,

About our missing in action. Chankast has been a very stressful project, it needed a lot of time to get it working. We did an incredible work to get the first release working in only 3 months, it was a full time work. After the 0.25 release I didn't feel like doing chankast again so I took a long break, but
we have been improving a lot of things in that time. The emu is faster and need less memory to work, an early xbox version is working, it's great to see shenmue 1 on xbox , the sound is better, ...

About the future, we are thinking about releasing the source code and a binary with the latest changes.
