Greetings all!

Absolutely fantastic site, and wonderful members. Happy to contribute anywhere if I ever can..

Been lurking for a while, and love the results of many peoples' hard work. I too have done experiments from way back, and am enjoying how great things have gotten.

My question is: on playback on my standalone, when the action goes up, the playback rate goes down.. low motion scenes are fine. Playback on the comp is fine. Settings, or player?

Am trying some NI and other changes... could it be merely the MAXbitrate too high for my player? (Zenith DS5512NC - found little info on my model on tha net )

TIA for any input from the sages

oops.. a little more info perhaps?

source: 704x400 6Mbps cleaned divx
TMPEG 258 (have used, but do not normally use avisnth, bbmpeg or other)
kvcdx3 528 mpeg-2 (mpeg-1 doesn't seem to keep the resolution right..)
(min300 max2500)

cd-media and nero are otherwise working fine..

Hi won hung tu lo,

Try lowering your MAX bit rate to 2000Kbps. See if that stops the problem

howdee

thanks for the input, k. I had done some tests down to 1500, but to no avail i went back to mpeg-1 and tried lowering the resolution

it worked!

the question now could be.. is it my player or something I am doing it merely doesn't like? it plays on pc fine..

wonderful work on those matrices and other manipulations..
makes all the testing worthwhile, eh? i will continue to enjoy 352xY clips no matter what

great work all around! :twirl: can't stop reading.. hehe

just an update b4 i have to go heh..

what are the differences that would affect my player so much?

kvcd plus (352x) = works great (2500..)
kvcdx3 (resized to 352x) = choppamatic

currently trying x3 at 2000 (1500 is fine)

hmmm

ok here's what i've found.. heh

for my player - a Zenith DS1552 (may help others with sound skipping, stuttering or other standalone playback problems..)

352x480 -> up to 2000kbps =
352x480 -> 2250 or higher =

if i go to

528x480 -> have to be 1150kbps or lower

(the source has RAIN in it, so i felt it was a good test of the max bitrate)

here's something else:
animation will use more bandwidth to stay sharp, but it starts having the same problems when i increase the CQ (above 70)..

i thought that the max bitrate would limit the quality/playback
how does the CQ affect playback so much for a standalone?

at least i know once i get it working, it should work on any future player :P

Okay, I've run some more tests (i must have the most craptacular dvd player in this region)

528x480 at 1150kbps? Going to try adjusting CQ..

Can run 528 with CQ of 40 @ 2500kbps..
I'd like to try get that higher tho..

528 with CQ of 50 = stuttering/noise glitches

On a side note, running 352x240 with 3Mbps and CQ60 working well.. will see how much we can push out of basic NTSC rez..

Love those matrices!
