I borrowed one of these from Terapin to play with (one of the priveleges of work), and I can confirm that it doesn't play KVCD in either PAL or NTSC without skipping both audio and video all over the place.

The damn thing is nasty anyway, it records awful VCDs compared to TMPEGenc and Kwag's templates... :P

Ditto!

I had one for a day. The damn thing even goes out of sync with it's own recordings.

I returned mine the day after I bought it.

And it records only one field. Not both!
So the recordings looked like "caca"

Then I bought the PV231 capture board. And I should have known better, because the chipset is the same as the one in the Terapin ( Winbond 99200F )

It's now sitting in the shelf

I haven't played with it much, so I haven't noticed any AV sync problems. I guess I'll have to satisfy my curiosity now you've said that...

I didn't know it recorded only one field, either - why would they do that? It would explain the slight jerkiness of the recordings, certainly.

It only captures at 352x240.

And you can see it in the captured videos because diagonal lines look jagged.

If they were capturing internally at 352x480 it wouldn't show so many artifacts.

Ah... So it captures like this regardless of whether it has a PAL or NTSC input source? Hmm. Either way, it's a wickedly nasty bit of hardware and for once I won't be sad to send a piece of loan hardware back to the company who owns it

I assume in PAL mode, it's capturing 352x288.

But still, if you don't return it, you can use it as an "Aliens Repellent"
in front of your house

Ah well - it's gone now anyway, to make room for the XBox and GameCube
