VCD Plays fine on the computer but not on player?
 

Anyone come across this?
Movie #1. Bad Company, muxed audio and video with bbmpeg, burned with vcdeasy at 4, playback on my panasonic rv26. Audio and video in sync but jerks every couple seconds.

Movie #2. K19, audio and video done with Tmpgenc, burned with vcdeasy at 4. Audio and video in sync but the audio tone is much lower than it should be. Sounds like they are talking an octave lower. Bitrates 1750 to 300. Full screen (keep aspect ratio)

Also, used the new templates and gop. Getting very good results. Managed to put K19 on one cd with cq 63 704x480 template. Bad Company on one cd with cq 50 528x480. However on playback on my standalone sucks. WTF?

is the output audio wav? if so I have a normalizer for wavs that I found on the net, this program amplifies the sound to a certain level.

Have you tried muxing and burning as SVCD?

Output was wav on movie #2 and mp2 on movie #1.

Haven't tried svcd but will look at doing that. I was also having a problem with playback in that about half way through the movie I started getting blocks all over the place and gradually got worse until the movie was unwatchable. I found that if I demuxed and remuxed with Tmpgenc this fixed the problem. I also thought it was a problem with VcdEasy so I tried Nero which worked for a while but the problem came back.

Any other thoughts?

I think I found the problem, I had the audio encoded at 48 instead of 44. If changing to 44 doesn't work I'll post again.

here is the normalize program, its ms-dos based you just drag and drop the wav over the exe file and it does the rest.

I have the panasonic rv26 dvd player also. I don't know if this will help but it helped me with the same problem you are having. I started useing heada3he to convert my sound and noticed when I downstamped to 44.1 that fixed my problem and the movie played great. Hope that helps.

Thanks acidfire and andybno1 but now I have another problem. Before, when I had a 48 audio source I would get perfect sync on the video/audio. Now that I'm using a 44 source and muxing with bbMpeg the sound is out of sync. It seems I'm the only one who can't sync the audio when using bbMpeg. I set it up using kwags' screen shot and used Headac3che to convert the ac3 file to mp2 and downsource from 48 to 44 as suggested, but the only time I could get it to sync is when its a 48khz audio.
Any other ideas?

Maybe it's time to try muxing with TMPGEnc :wink:

Did u tryed to encode audio with TMPGenc and then mux with bbMPEG as
VCD or SVCD .

Do you know the procedure to encode as vcd 2.0 then burn as svcd? I'd like to keep the quality.

I also tried muxing with Tmpgenc but it's still out of sync.

I think the main question is do I have some settings wrong where 48khz will be sync'd and 44khz will not? If burned with 48khz audio the video jerks and the tone of the audio becomes lowered.

did you use dvd2avi and demux the audio? I don't know if it will help but this is what I do to get a kvcd:
1 rip movie with smartripper
2 dvd2avi with demux selected under audio
3 ac3 to mp2 with headac3he (surround 2, dual channel, 48 to 44.1 sound box checked)
4 fitcd
5 tmpg with template and file prediction
6 mux with tmpg
7 burn with nero
Movie comes out great and plays great.

Have you encoded with min. 300 kb/s? Some DVD-Standalones will lose sync if the min. bitrate is that low... (Luckily I don't have this problem :talking: )
