I am doing some testing with the SKVCD template and am finding that I cannot do an IVTC, as my finished product ends up skipping quite a bit. My source is VHS captured using the Main Concept DV codec. I did a test using the template but changing the framerate back to 29.97/Interlaced and while the finished product looks good, I get similar results/file sizes using the default SVCD template in TMPGenc using the same bitrate settings (CQ 70, max 2500, min 300), so I would be more inclined to use the default template as it offers me more compatibility with standalone DVD players. Is it correct in presuming that the template is only beneficial in saving space when you are doing an IVTC? Does the fact that I am capturing using the DV codec basically prevent me from doing an IVTC? I am not clear on this whole topic. Let's say that I am capturing a movie from a VHS source but via DV, is it still possible to convert to 24fps? So far my tests seem to indicate not, as the results have always been choppy and look like frames were obviously cut out.

Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Wish I could answer that one hudsonhawk . I do it all the time, but I capture all my episodes with a Panasonic DMR-E20 and then make KVCDs by using Telecide and Decimate functions to restore 24fps. I don't see why capturing with DV wouldn't work
