i used VCDeasy to make chapters. When i play it on my DVD, if i skip to the next chapter the sound gets out of sync, if i pause the movie and then press play it goes back to normal, anyone have any ideas?

You're doing the right thing. A lot of DVD players do that when playing non-standard VCD's. The problem is related to MPEG-1 variable bit rate.
So just pause and play!.
