Apex Ad-660 review (thorough test)

I tested some of the kvcd templates on my apex ad-660. The template that doesn't seem to work is the kvcd3. if you change the resolution to something like 352x240 or 480x480. then the apex plays it fine. depending on you source. I used various divx and xvid encodes. depending on how the sources where encoded, 23.976 and 29.97 work. I think the apex ad-660 is just picky on resolution sizes. Since I tested on cartoons, the 352x240 is standard vcd resolution and 480x480 is standard svcd, both resolutions worked flawlessly. on pc you see some pixelation and blocking. However on the tv, it just looks awesome. to more emphasize this player, the 352x240 resolution you can tell theres blockage if put your face up to the tv and look. I tested this same disk on my Sony Dvp-s360, you could tell there was blockage from about 10-12 ft away.

[all audio was headache 128 dual channel, bbmpeg muxed]

I have the same player. Did you encode as mpg1 or mpg2?, also did you mux as mpg1 or mpg2?

i forgot a couple of things...i have been using 480x480 SVCD @23 fps for this player seems to work great.

have you tried 480x480 mpg1 @23fps? and does it work or does it need to be muxed as SVCD with BBMpeg?

or does it need to be @29fps?

can you be more specific with the details please?
