Anyone

Not sure where to post this... Not even sure if this can be fixed... I've been using KVCDx3 templates with the latest script for a while now and everything looks great.! The only thing that bugs me is when I put the CD in my DVD player (Panasonic RV31) the timer only goes to 80 minutes.... Even if the movie that was burned is much longer than that.

Any way around this?

No way around it DorvalCS
When the DVD players read the media, and detect "VCD", they assume the maximum media size. They don't take into consideration that some "weirdos" like us ( ) made the MPEG-1 variable bit rate

Kwag,

I have a similar issue but it is with the real time "timer" on my Sony DVP-NC600.

When I am playing a KVCD the time counts up faster than real time. This means after 2:00 minutes of playing the timer says something higher. (It is not a standard off set but then again my KVCDs are not all the same framerate?)

Any ideas. (It is not a problem so much as an annoyance).

BTW... I burn the CD-Rs using VCDEasy.

Same thing Grantman. It's all related to VBR

Well.... It's a small price to pay.

I'll keep my KVCDs!

Thanks Kwag.

Yes, me too
If the counter bothers you, a piece of black electrical tape can do a wonderful job

After reading about how standalone DVD players always think VCDs are 80 minutes I did a couple of tests.

The reason the clock counts too fast it because it takes into account the size of the actual content on the VCD and then counts towards 80:00 using a factor based on the content.

So an 80:00 VCD would count real time. If you could fit 160 minutes on a VCD it would be counting at 2x.

It does not really matter but I hate it when I can not figure out the "WHY" behind things like this.

As time moves on, we'll probably see manufacturers taking into account VBR in MPEG-1 (VCDs), and newer models will probably work correctly
