How to Play on PC?
I have a KVCD, but no DVD player, so I tried to play it on my PC. I tried loading the AVSEQ01.MPG file in several programs, including TMPGEnc, DVD2AVI, my software DVD player, and Windows Media Player, but they all give me errors. TMPGEnc, for example, says "illegal stream format." Is the file corrupt, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks. |
welcome in forum Myrmidon
 seems that you don't have the right codec. i'm afraid to do this questions... how do you got your kvcd :?: or better, how do you encode without a codec? :? |
You could try to open it with GSpot and see what codecs are available for this source.

Uh, it's a KVCD MPEG, so the codec should just be "a modification of" MPEG-2, right? And I should be able to open an MPEG in TMPGEnc without installing any other codecs, shouldn't I? GSpot says the codec is "MPEG Video Decoder" and the stream type is "video/mpeg." I don't have a problem playing regular MPEG-2 files (like from DVDs or SVCDs).
This is from a KVCD disc image -- I guess basically an SVCD which uses the "modified" MPEG-2 format -- and I'm trying to load the file MPEG2\AVSEQ01.MPG on my PC. Just to clarify, I'm not trying to encode a KVCD. This is a KVCD someone else already made. I just want to watch it. |
Never mind, I figured it out...
