playback problem

I got about a quarter of the way into the movie then the video started to look weird- like the special effects in "Predator"- the video then stopped but the audio kept playing. After about two minutes of paused video it started up again but the audio was then about a second out of sync the rest of the way.

This is the first time I've seen this problem on my Sony DVPNC600 but I've seen this same problem a couple times on a Sony NS300. Normally my vcds play fine so my theory is that the media was bad.

Has anyone else encountered this problem before?

thx

Hi rendalunit:
That definitely looks like a media problem.

Hi rendalunit !

U are probable right and so is KWAG too - prob can be the media !
But allow me to ask u - Why don't u use demux->remux bbMPEG VCD?
U'll solve all those stupid prob's with media too.
Longer way = RELEABILITY

hi Bman,

I haven't used BBmpeg at all because I don't know how  I saw the posts where muxing/dumux with bbmpeg should help with audio skips, etc. When I run bbmpeg, at the top it says: AVI2MPG2 v1.24 beta 13 - is this the right program?

I really need to try this because I had this problem again last night watching a kvcd the video got all blocky and there were super loud squeaks that scared the hell out of my dog!

thanks!

is it a new media brand that you tried?
also, what app and speed did you burn it at?

hey,

The media is Memorex- i've burned hundreds of these with no problem before. Here's a red flag though- I burn with Nero 5.5.8 at the max speed- 32x. Would you recomend burning at the slowest speed (4x)?

thx

It could solve your problem. My burner could burn up to 24x speed but I usually just burn up to a max of 8x speed because of bad experiences on higher speeds, sometimes blocks and other noises appear. 8x is a lot slower but is a guaranteed burn.

Wich burner you have? It could be the burner, i had a yamaha and the same problem, i changed it and voila! problem solved, with the yamaha i could not burn Mp3's cds the ones that easy cd creator makes cause at the middle of the cd it crashed, i tried abut five times without result.

Hope this helps. Of course is possible thet it can be solved just lowering the speed. But burner problems was my case, i'm just sharing my experience.

DaDe.

Hi all !
Burning speed is most importent factor when u work with media .
I know that x4 and x8 are the most reliable speeds and give best results .
Even my burner supports x24 I never use it .
Go slow but safe and get best results - thats my motto .
No shortcuts .
U have no benefit if cut 15min at burning and spend dayes to fix probs .

hi dade,

I have a Sony burner that so far has not given me any problems- but I found out what the problem was- the cds were dirty!
After I cleaned the cd it played fine. I ran out of jewel cases so I keep my vcds in stacks and they get really dusty. One of them still has problems after being cleaned but it has a deep scratch in it.

thx all!
